| Separation Anxiety????? Today is the first time I did not put Brandi in her xpen while I am at work. While she was in her expen, she would mostly sleep off and on all day. However, today she just seems like she doesn't know what to do with her self. She has been pacing back and forth all day Below is a link to my website. She's been pretty active all day so you should see her walking back and forth to the door. I left her in my bedroom with the door close. She has her potty pad (which by the way, it looks like she has been using it...woohoo), water and her bed and some toys. I also left the radio on for her but to me the pacing back and forth looks like separation anxiety....need others opinions. Check out the webcam and let me know. It's a little dark, forgot to adjust the camera when I left this morning but you can still see her. Thanks http://68.83.85.251:8080/?src=1&mode=0 |

| We put Zeus in his X pen when we leave. One day my husband couldn't catch him and just left him loose in the house. When I got home he was barking like crazy. I think being left in the house all alone created anxiety he normally did not have in his pen. He usually sleep the whole time we are gone too. I think they feel safer in their pens. |

I think you are right....she's probably not use to soo much space. I figure since she was doing so well in her expen (by holding it in all day or using her potty pad) I thought maybe she should have a little more freedom. I give her a little more time. I'm sure she just needs to adjust a little. She did with her expen so she should be okay with this as well. | |

| Anxiety yes but not so sure on the separation anxiety. She is fine when you leave her alone in her pen she just has to get used to the bigger space. She is so cute by the way. |

| Thanks.....she usually looks a lot better after I brush her but she's such a little tomboy. I took her to the vet for a check up and she has gained a whole pound! Last edited by yavenay; 09-24-2009 at 09:41 AM. |

| She's 8 yrs old and weights 5.7 lbs, when I got her last October as a rescued she only weighed 4.2 lbs so she has regained her weight back. She was used for breeding and was not very well taken care of. All of her teeth had to be pulled and all of hair had to be shaved off. Her hair has grown back in nicely as long as I keep it brushed. | aaaahhh, i can see her pacing behind the door! I think you need to break it into baby steps. Sushi used to be in her pen during the day while I was at work. When she was older and more reliable, I started with little bits of freedom here and there. First, I left her out of the pen (with access to the pen of course, so that she could retreat to her sanctuary whenever she felt the need) only in the morning when I went to the gym for an hour before work. Then she graduated to being left out of the pen all morning until noon. Then I would come home at lunch, put her back in, then go back to work. And finally she got complete run of the house after that. The whole transition took abour 2 months. But she adjusted well.
