| Teeko Update So I had Teeko back with the vet yesterday. Her coughing is getting a lot worse and she'll be finished her antibiotics and steroids tonight?? Coughing can sound really chesty at times, and other times it's very dry. Vet says he cannot hear any infection in her chest and he says he must allow for the possibility that it may be collapsed trachea!!!! Oh no!! He did say that there is a possibility the antibiotics and steroids are keeping the infection at bay, which would explain why he can't hear anything happening in her chest - but he says safer to x-ray her before taking any further action. No point giving her more meds until we know what the problem is. I have to leave her in for the x-ray tomorrow morning at 8am and will be able to pick her up at lunchtime all going well. She will be sedated for the x-ray so he said it will also give him the oppurtunity to have a good look down her throat, make sure there's nothing stuck down there etc. I had read that when a puppy has collapsed trachea, they have difficulty breathing when they're playing and running around and that their cough is more prominent during the day. Teeko can run around all day without any problems and her cough tends to flare up at night rather than during the day - so I'm really trying to be positive and hope it's something less sinister |
