| Thoughts on giving Yuriy the chance to be a daddy. Some of you may recall our wee fell is now 4 months and 2 weeks old! As my wife and I were leaving the vets on Friday we bunped into a Spanish couple with a male now just over 14 months old. Anyway we got talking and they asked if we were gonna let Yuriy Ivanovich be a daddy at some stage as, here on Tenerife, there are apparently few British bred male Yorkies. Must say we had never even thought about it and to some degree we had thought of castration at some point anyway. Got us thinking so my wife went on to one of her Russian Yorkie sites and some advised against and some were for. However one did say that Yorkies who had had a sexual experience tended to need this every 4 months or so, otherwise they become bad tempered. Now I thought of asking an Agony Aunt/Uncle bet clearly this is an animal issue so needs to be addressed accordingly. So guys have you any comments/advice on the pros/cons of allowing a family male Yorkie to become a Dad at some time and if no harm then at what age? |

| Honestly, any male yorkie could really care less about being a daddy. What an unaltered male cares about is mating with any available in heat female. Once they do, you will have to worry about marking in the house, etc. Your sweet loving yorkie will no longer be your love bug, he will be a marking machine. Unless he is a superior representation of the breed and worthy or procreating, then please nueter him and make his and your life so much easier.

I wouldn't either. He will become a marking machine, and completely out of control. He will always have to wear belly bands or he will completely wreck your furniture. Mr. Big is a retired stud from a breeder, and he has never stopped marking. I got him fixed right away, and it did help a little, but since it was a learned behavior it never completely went away. JMHO.

| haha!! Also I think if you were a "breeder" and thats what you did..then so be it, but just to want him be a dad I dont think their is a reason for that lol..he doesnt know any better. Just let him be YOUR family's baby and not have babies!

| I do not think this is a good idea I was once asked in a pet store if I would stud out Couver to a woman who had a small yorkie. I said NO WAY. I want him to be a pet, and not a horn dog. I guess if you are willing to deal with him peeing all over your furniture, go for it! Otherwise, I would recommend you get him neutered asap. I think that the breeding should be left to the professionals, not just people who want their yorkie to be a "daddy"
