| Barking My 2 1/2 year old, Brady, has begun barking a lot the last couple of weeks and he would only bark if someone came near the house. Now he barks even if my husband or I go outside. We're retired so he's not alone and he gets lots of attention. I was thinking of trying the can with the coins inside but was hoping someone would have another way. thanks

| I tell mine "no" an walk towards them. If they do not stop I nip them with my fingers and tell them no. Now they learn that if I start to walk towards them they need to stop barking. If they are outside barking at something and won't stop, they are sent inside. |

| I use a squirt bottle of plain water. I give the command and if they don't stop, I squirt. It gets progressively worse (more water) until they stop. It works great because you can reach them even across the room. I learned this from dog class.

| Your Brady sounds like my female and now my 9 week old puppy is doing the same thing. Everytime I go outside and leave them they go to barking! Oh what to do?????? The water bottle thing sounds good but, will it make them hate baths?

| I tried this with Ginger. Problem is ..... she loves the water! Didn't phase her. She actually liked it.

| Yep, me too! My 8 yr old never barked before, unless someone was at the door or around the house. Lately, he started barking at everything which then gets the other four barking, it's deafening! The water bottle works great, it goes clear across the room, and I'm getting really good with my aim!

| Harley never liked baths anyway, so this wasn't an issue with us, probably made it work even better! I also have a squirt water bottle outside to teach the new puppies not to chew on plants for their safety. works good there too.

| Barking Thanks for the suggestions. At dog obedience class they recommended the can with coins in it but I am waiting for an empty can. The water also sounds good but with tiles throughout most of my house I'm afraid I will slip and break something!! Thanks. Lorraine
