| I dont know anything about this type of collar but that is what Yorkies do. They are little Yappers. I think any kind of collar that restaints him from barking is very cruel. JMO |

| I thought citronella was to repel flying insects. (I wouldn't use any type of collar!)

| Here's Another Suggestion I would be careful using a collar. But, our vet suggested DAP. It's a dog appeasing pheramone. It mimics the scent a mother dog releases when she is lactating to calm and comfort her puppies. They sell a spray and an air diffuser to release into the environment. Our vet swears by it for calming. We are trying it the first time we fly. You can also spray it on a bandana and tie it around your dog's neck loosely. Good luck! |

| I literally JUST seen an add for these collars in the sunday paper! They are not Citranella... They are citrus collars. When your dog barks, it shoots out a mist of natural lemon citrus. It does not harm the dog, it just bothers them a little because their sense of smell is so strong. In the article, it said that trainers are using these now for excessive barking. I had to look them up on line for more details because it made me curious... They start at $50.00 on Ebay.

| Last night on It's Me or the Dog someone was using one of these. According to Victoria they only work for so long because the dog becomes conditioned to them and it ends up not working anymore. I've never used one but I'm a pretty loyal Victoria fan, so I wouldn't use one. But that's just my personal opinion. |

| If this is tre, it makes no sense. Citronella is a poison used in candles for mosquitos. Not sure why anyone would put that chemical in a bark collar? What I seen was citrus spray so I know nothing about the other.

| I am not promoting citronella. However, if you Google citronella, you will find that it is a NATURAL REPELLENT, not a poison. There actually is a cirtonella plant. It is used in quite a few products, for several remedies.

| This is what I found about a citronella collar: Brand New Multivet Citronella Spray No Bark Collar KIT11122 The Multivet Citronella Spray Bark Collar works without negative effects for the barking dog. Multivet has the safe and humane bark collar solution for situations where your dog's excessive barking has become a problem. Research data has shown that the second most common complaint received at local police stations (next to false alarms) are complaints about barking dogs! The result: police warnings, expensive fines, eviction notices and strained relationships with your neighbors. Combining modern electronics and dog training modification techniques this citronella spray bark collar will stop excessive barking. The Multivet Citronella Spray Bark Collar is effective, safe and painless. It needs no human intervention to work and has no secondary negative effects. In fact the spray dog barking collar has a calming effect. The collar is comfortable and will fit dogs of all sizes. How the Multivet Citronella Spray Bark Collar works: The spray barking control collar targets your dog's ultra-heightened senses for immediate results. Each time your dog barks, the microphone will detect the barking and the barking control collar releases a harmless citronella spray. Your dog is instantly distracted by the sight, smell, sound, and sensation of the gentle spray collar and stops barking. Your dog becomes conditioned to expect the spray and will instinctively refrain from excessive barking to avoid it.

| Here is the citrus collar info. Maybe this will help you decide yes or no. Also, note at the bottom it says must be 8 lbs. When your dog barks, a burst of all-natural citrus spray is emitted from the collar. Your dog will find the spray annoying and bothersome. While not harmful, it is a sufficient deterrent to excessive barking. The collar is waterproof and cannot be set off by another dog's barking. Features: All-natural lemon scent is safe and effective Cannot be set off by another dog's bark Waterproof Low battery indicator Low spray indicator On/Off switch Emits up to 80 sprays per refill, over twice the amount of any other brand Uses a 6-volt silver alkaline battery (included) Manual included Collar Specs: Height: 1.5" Width: 2" Depth: 1.5" Weight: 3.2 oz One black plastic sensor probe, center Replacement nylon collar: RFA-130 General Info: Sensor probe cannot be removed or adjusted Uses vibration sensor to sense for barking Should not be worn with other collars as they may set the collar off Cannot attach leash to collar Must be fit properly or may not function reliably Not recommended to use for more than 8 hours at a time Dog should be at least 8 lbs.

im not trying argue but give another side i have one that only barks occasionally and i have 2 that bark so much its ridiculous ... little girl barks when the keys jingle, when some puts shoes on, when the door opens...and teddy bark when he wants up, when he wants to play and just about every 5 minutes unless he is sleeping...i personally dont want to hear that all the time...and if i can find a humane calm way of correcting them i would love it...its not necessary to have or let them have excessive barking.. i just opened it too look at the reviews i havent made any plans on buying anything but i am curious | |
