YorkieTalk Newbie! | Coat Milo is black & gold with silver roots on his head & I just noticed on his body too!(which is currently black). My breeder said the silver roots will turn to the light gold he has on his face. I found it a little hard to believe that he will go from black, to silver, to gold..So I'm curious, has anyones hairball have silver hair/roots that turned gold?? Or is it looking like Milo (3 months) will eventually go from mainly black to silver? P.S My breeder also mentioned that yorkies hair color change for the first 3 years. |

| Yes, Sophie has silver on her head and a few other spots you can see in my avatar that is just now changing to a light tan/gold color at the roots. She reached 9 months old yesterday! Jackie & Sophie Last edited by MI Yorkielover; 09-08-2009 at 05:50 AM. |

My Rily is 5 months now and he did the same thing....I guess they will keep us guessing,. The sticky on coats/coloring has good info, but I found it confusing....I guess we just have to wait and see. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rt-thread.html

| Yep! Jackson was a little black furball as a pup, now he's ALL silver. Check it out: Jackson at 9 weeks old -first picture. Jackson now at 11 months old (the bigger Yorkie) - second pic.

| Yes, all of mine turn silver on their head before they turn tan/gold. What is funny, is the hair on their head turns silver then tan, but the hair on their body goes from black to a more silvery black (really called blue) without turning gold. Funny how the genes are all programmed to make these changes. You would think hair would be hair, but not with a Yorkie! No breed that I know of changes as much as a Yorkie! They are like getting a new dog look every 4-6 months! In fact, even the groomer can change the way mine look a LOT. I look through some of the pictures and it is hard to believe they are all of the same dog. Their variety is part of what I love about them!

| It's one of several reasons I love this breed. It's almost like having a new dog each month. As time goes by more and more 'blonde' comes out on her head. Although I must say, her coloring at 9 months is my favorite so far. Her head was a stunning silver! Gracie Ruth at 3 months at 6 months at 9 months at 1 year
