Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congratulations. I have never had a puppy flown in but hopefully some people with experience will respond. I would take something to clean her up if needed and some nutrical in case she is stressed. Can't wait to hear she has arrived safely.

| Welcome to YorkieTalk Can you contact the breeder & ask for suggestions? What airline? Continental is good. Maybe NutraCal in case of low blood sugar.

| I am a ground service agent with a major airline, and as such, I am the one who takes your puppy off the plane. Having seen what I see, I wouldn't ship one personally, but that being said, I am sure there is no PERMANENT damage to the puppy, and nothing that a nice stable few days in the new loving home won't cure. That being said, it is often hot in cargo holds, luggage shifts in flight and falls on some of the crates (which I am sure is very scary). The cargo hold is RIGHT by the engine, so coming off and getting on might be scary too. I drove 6 hours to get mine and 6 hours back, though the lady was willing to ship her unaccompanied or accompanied in coach (which of course would cost more). If you can avoid this at all, make a trip of it, and go get your baby. SPend the night if you need.

| Welcome to YT ! I had my Sophie shipped to me as a puppy from an AKC Yorkshire Terrier breeder in Missouri to Michigan. She flew with Pet Air, an organization that flys show dogs and pets around the world and who take great care to be sure the puppies are comfortable. She was vet checked before she flew and if there was a layover they would take the puppy out and exercise her and replenish any food and water. The dogs are always first on and first off the flight. They do not fly in the cargo hold. Sophie's flight was only five hours and she arrived in excellent condition. She seemed very happy and healthy when I received her. I would use Pet Air again if it was necessary as it was in my case. Jackie & Sophie |

| If it is continental, the puppy will be fine. The other airlines I am not sure of. I have used aa couple and they did say the temp is controlled. i have only shipped cargo three or four times and it was older puppies or adults. My little ones go in cabin with an off duty flight attendant. i always advise my clients to take Nutracal to the airport and give them a gob when they get off the plane. Most people have to be at the airport at least two hours before flight time to ship, then the puppy doesn't eat in transit and then it takes awhile to geet home with it so it needs a dose of nutracal. |

| I had my Zoe shipped in a couple of years ago and while I do agree that it's not the ideal, I had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Good luck! |

| I never had a yorkie flown but I did have my bull terrier flown in by Continental. She left around 6am and we picked her up at 4 pm. She was quite scared and calm when we met her and needed a day to warm up. |

I especially think shipping a puppy less than 2 pounds is not in the best interest of the pup. That is just too little for that sort of stress IMO. Keep in mind even though some post their puppies arrived okay -- some trauma does not show easily. Since it seems to be a done deal in this situation, I would just suggest taking Nutrical, food, and fresh water with you to meet the puppy. Take supplies to clean the pup as I often read they arrive pretty messy after having loose BMs or vomiting from the commotion during the trip. Have an appointment with your own vet for the day after you pick your little one up.

I have to add this was a 30-40 lb dog who arrived very stressed and scared. I'd be a bit worried about a tiny puppy. Mine was also 6 months+ | |

| Puppy Flight Feel free to email me (kirista@southeasttexasyorkies.com) or give me a call @409.745.0707 ... We ship exclusively with Continental Airlines and they do an awesome job... I can give you a few tips and what to expect upon arrival... Also, there are a few things you need to confirm with your breeder prior to the puppy's flight... Kirista |
