YT Addict | New puppy store in stratford mall Illinois. Im so upset. Im so upset over this. I grew up going to stratford mall. the mall kinda went to sh!@ over the years but now this. They just put up a pet store and sell puppies. As we all know they usually come from puppy mills. they said they get them from breeders but yea right. and their prices are absolutely ridiculous. they had this really adorable bull dog and they wanted 4,000 for him. WHAT!!!!! i said straight to their face you want 4 grand for a bull dog that came from a puppy mill and is not show quality. your insane!! and people are going to buy these dogs not knowing any better. they probably bought that bull dog for 200 bucks from the puppy mill and are trying to sell it for 4 grand. and people pay it! come on people do your research. please !!! i am so mad this is in the mall i grew up going to. my mom used to take me shopping for school clothes and i just had good memories there. and now it is a cra# hole. selling puppy mill dogs. As for the ad on Craigslist, young girls who love puppies will apply and learn a very hard and heartbreaking lesson if they are unlucky enough to get the job. With the economy the way that is it I'm sure they will not be in business for long. A protest of two wouldn't hurt either

| I am sure it makes you beyond postal! People are lazy and do not consider the outcomes of their actions. Pets are disposable in this upside-down world. Until we can change that belief, people will only do what is profitable or convenient for them. Organize a sit in at the mall with puppymill placards during the busy holiday season. Maybe that might jog awareness in some. Sorry your memories have been tainted. |

| I ignorantly bought my Joey from a pet store. I really didn't know that most pet stores are supplied by puppy mills. If I had known, I wouldn't have gone in. I wouldn't have Joey, but I feel terrible for supporting a mill. I figure that by spreading the word about pet stores and all they do to get people to buy, it kinda evens out a little...I still feel bad though. It is very true, though. The girl told me that the owner goes out to each house and hand picks his puppies - while inspecting the property to make sure the pups don't come from mills. Bull poo. When I got the registration papers from him, not only were they not akc (ckc - continental kennel club), but he was from Minnesota! Now, what Idaho pet store owner flies to Minnesota to pick up one puppy? Makes me angry...

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Oh no I hope this isn't a trend. 20 years ago a lot of malls had pet stores.

OMG and our laws allow this? I just got sick to my stomach reading this terrible story. Just when you think pet stores can't get any worse you find out they can. What about inventory? Aren't they suppose to keep this for tax purposes at least? How do they explain the dissapearance of puppies in their tax returns. We know tax is on sales in most states. Our govenment won't loose their share of tax dollars from puppies suffering. | |

| It's so sad and I wish more knew people knew about these horrible things. There used to be a pet store in our mall but it closed down. I was guilty of going in there and playing with the puppies (you could pick whatever pup you wanted and then go into a little gated area to play with him/her, before I knew any better. Thank God that place got shut down.

| AKC is the American Kennel Club, and CKC is the Continental Kennel Club. AKC is more strict, I guess? Like, you can register your AKC dog in the CKC, but you can't register your CKC dog AKC. That's the best way I can think of to describe it. Basically, I think AKC is generalized as the "better" or more prestigious (sp?) club.
