| Petland is shady Today, I got a little curious and wanted to see if what ive read about petland it true, so i went up to my local petland and went inside to ask some questions. I asked a lady there i said that ive read that the puppys you sell here come from puppy mills is that true? She said no way thats not true at all and got really defensive about it. So I asked to see a puppy, she was a yorkie/fox terrier mix and i asked a dumb question to see what shed say so i asked her if she was a pure bread yorkie she said yes. I was like she nots a full bread yorkie if shes part fox terrier. Then I asked the lady if i did buy a puppy from there would i be able to talk to the breeder in which you got the dogs from, she said that i personally could not that id have to talk to the owners, i said you told me that they come from good breeders and come with papers so why cant i talk to the breeders she said its company rules not for buyers to talk to the breeders, that threw up another red flag to me. Then she told me that all the puppies come with a 3 year birth defect warrenty to cover hip problems, back problem ect. and a 60 days health warrenty incase they pick something up at the store. I said the good breeders will give you a 1 year health warrenty covering all of that why dont you guys do that, she got defensive again and said well do those breeders give you a free spay/neuter i said as a matter of fact they do, if you bring the paperwork back to them showing that your puppy has had that done they will give you like 100 dollars back from what you paid, and you get to go to your vet to get it done. She said with that free neuter/spay you have to go to the vet they tell you to go to. Another red flag, then i asked how much she was and she said 899.99 with papers. (My girlfriend just bought Payslee Grace for 700.00 + papers full bread) Then the lady showed me the new puppys they just got in and said we just got them today, we get a new shipment of puppies EVERY WEDNESDAY! I was like what that dont sound right at all. Before i went in there today i have noticed that there are people who picket petland saying the very thing i went in there to ask, that they get there puppies from puppy mills. After i talked to that lady i felt that i should come on here and let everyone know about this.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You're right to be upset. What you read and hear about Pet Land is all true. They will lie to your face rather than admit where they get their dogs. (I know this because I tried the only time I stepped foot in that store) They are THE biggest customer of puppy mills...they ship the dogs in 18 wheelers with no heat or air conditioning - doesn't matter how many are sick or don't make it - they just deliver the dogs all over the country like this. you probably know - dogs in mills get no medical attention so the pet stores are knowingly selling dogs that can very possibly not live past a few weeks. It's sickening. Hunte corporation is another disgusting company. you can type them in a search and read all about what they do.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Ugh Petland is a disgusting company. They are notoriously know for selling puppy mill dogs. i have gone into the one in my town and all the puppies look drugged so they will appear calm and cute. they also sit in dirty cages, have hair missing, and are NOT purebred looking puppies at all. you were right to question them. people picket outside their stores all the time.

| awful that is just awful! I know you felt bad going in and coming out of there. I have spent time today looking at puppies with bows pasted on top of their heads for sale on the net mega dog seller sites. So many of them are about 6-8 weeks old and too young to be be ready for a new home. Plus they look scared and not healthy to me. They are cute and that is what most of these puppymill, back yard breeders hope you will look at...just how cute they are and then type in your credit card for them to ship them anywhere. The more I research the more I learn. |

| Ugh, stay far away from Petland. Just reading your post makes my blood boil all over again about them. I have never been in Petland and will never set foot in there, ever. Glad that you did get to hear for yourself that what you read on YT about Petland is true without going through the heartbreak of getting a puppymill puppy. Its funny when you gave it right back to her!! Good job!

| Thank you, i wanted to go in there nicely and not be mean like i really wanted to be, but i knew better than to go and do that because that would gain nothing so i went in like a customer, and gained alot of information, the puppy that i was playing with was teething like crazy she was biting like shed been takin away from her litter too young. She said shed been born on June 29 but i think she was takin away at like 6 weeks and thats why i think she was teething so bad.

| I've never been in Petland and I don't think I will set foot in one. It just makes me really sad and hearing your experience just confirms it all. I wish they could be shut down.

| We don't have one of those in my city, we have a store called Corbets Pets, they have two locations in the city and they sell puppies. I don't go in there ever, I have to buy bird food a couple times and fish. But I always go look at the pups when I am in there. The last time was probably 6 months ago or so. Well they had a "yorkie" so I asked the lady some questions because he was twice the size of Stormy at that time. She said he was only 14 weeks or so and I said to her jeez he looks nothing like a purebred yorkie, I have one at home that is 5 lbs, he is twice if not three times the size of her! He definitely was NOT purebred for sure, he had huge floppy ears, the coloring was wayyyyyyyyyyyy off and he was so HUGE! He was going for 1,000+! I have been thinking of going back there and protesting infront of their store |

| I considered it rescuing my Reggie when I picked him up at Petland 2 weeks ago. I paid 1499.00 for him and he was worth every penny. I brought him home and took him to my vet immediately. He is doing very well, I am so in love with him. |

YT 500 Club Member | I'm so glad that we have family owned pet stores here that will let you talk to the breeder if you want. But they dont sell puppies, they sell smaller animals. How horrible for the little pups at petland. I have never heard of this store before now.

| Petland makes me sick. I hate going there because they let the poor little puppies sit in their own waste. It is so gross! All the animals just seem so unhappy. I want them to all have homes. I don't see why there isn't someone that can make the people who work there clean up those puppies. But i will never buy a dog from there, and in my opinion they do come from puppy mills. |
