Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Why Won't He Go Up My Stairs? I have stairs that go up to my room. Tucker can fly up and down stairs but he won't go up mine. he'll zip up and down the ones out front or anywhere else, but not the ones going into my room. Bandit did it just a few weeks after we got him and he was only about 11 weeks. Tucker is almost 6 months (wow my baby's growing up!) and he still won't go up them. he stands at the bottem barking in the morning, and he has his 2 front paws up on the first or second step, but he won't go up. is anyone else's dog like this? do you think he'll ever go up my stairs?

| I dont know if he will ever go up the stairs or not. Both of mine were doing it by 4 months old and one of my dogs is only 4lbs. I think they just have to get the nerve to try it once then they are okay. You could ty to coax him to go up with treats.

| My little guy did that for the longest time! Then finally he went up the stairs, but wouldn't go down them! That went on for awhile, so finally one day I put him at the top of the stairs and coaxed him down each step. It took awhile and I used treats and sometimes I would place him on each step and then put him back and see if he would do it. Finally he did it! It just took awhile, but know he flies up & down them so fast that he'll miss a step every once in awhile and roll down the rest! Its kinda funny. I make sure he's not hurt and then laugh at him! Usually he'll get right back up and try again! |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | i've put him a few stairs up, and he'll come down with no problem. do you guys think if i brought him up more he might want to come up? he hasn't been up here very much, only a few times.....maybe that could be the problem. and i'm still trying to think of a good one for you elizabeth, just remember you've got it comming!

| Mia was so scared of some stairs as a puppy, she would do small stairs no problem but occasionally she wouldn't do other stairs. I got a small piece of watermelon and put a little piece on each step and she would go step by step until she reached the top, then she realized what she did and that it was ok. Never had any problems with stairs since! |

| Perhaps give him a treat if he goes up the stairs. That will work if your dog is one that likes treats! Anything for treats!

| For being so tiny Gus has never had problems going up and down our stairs. But when we go to my dads, he wont go up by himself I have to carry him. He seems to be scared of them. I myself am scared of my dads appartment. I have seen shadows go across the walls 2 times now. I don't believe in that kind of stuff and feel that there is a reason for everything, but it just freaks me out that Gus don't like to go there either. He did go down the stairs but thats becasue he was following me out and wanted to get out of there. I just went to down to the car to bring up something and he was not about to take a chance of me leaving him there. LOL Maybe your Tucker is frightened of something?

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | the only 2 things i could really think of him being scared of are my riding boots sitting at the top of the stairs, or my cat sitting on the banaster (sp??) but even when neither of them are there he still is scared........oh well.
