| Tears all day I was trying to clip the hair around Sadie's pads and nails because it was so long you couldn't see her nails or pads anymore. I was doing pretty well despite her wiggling and being a brat. Then the worst happened...i cliped a tiny little cut in her knuckle over her nail. I feel awful!! I put a tiny tiny amount of peroxide on a cotten ball and held it on there. it didn't bleed hardly at all but is pink and there is obviously a small cut... i feel like the worst mother in the world. i was trying so hard to be careful and i made her yelp and then she peed on the floor in a huge puddle. ON the upside we had the BEST progress today.... Sadie rang her bell to go outside, she peed, then she came back inside and she rang it again within 5 minutes, we thought she was playing us, but we took her outside anyways and she pooped!! Then later in the evening she rang it again and i took her out and she pooped again!!! So i've cried because i was so happy and proud and i've cried because i hurt my little baby....what a day. |

| I'm so happy she is getting the housetraining down..CONGRADS on that.. Don't be upset, you didn't mean to cut her and these things happen. She knows her mommy loves her and didn't mean it.. |

| It's good that you put the peroxide on your furbaby, the same thing happened to Rockie but the new groomer l had to groom him was the one who clipped him to close. l used peroxide too. lt healed very fast. Glad to hear she is doing great on her potty training.

| I am amazed that your little baby rings the bell to go outside! That is incredible for such a young one. Would you tell us what kind of bell you use and how you went about teaching her this? Her little paw will heal in no time.

| we use a service bell like you would see at a hotel counter. since the day we brought her home we have touched her paw to it to make it ding once and said "outside" then we take her outside to a small chicken wire area and say "go potty" and she does. now she's finally putting the two together and using the bell to go outside and potty. it's wonderful to have her own little way of telling us she needs to go! still miserable about being so clumsy, and not only that but i let myself get frustrated with her wiggling and was a little harsh telling her to stop it.... i feel so mean. |

All dogs can learn to do this, it's very simple. some use jingle bells hanging from the door, we use a service bell like in a hotel desk. just be consistent that you ring it for her with her paw each time you go outside and eventually they get it!! i learned it from my aunt, she's awesome! she's on here as Karrie Here are some previous threads about this type of potty training! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...g-experts.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...-go-potty.html | |

| Sometimes, I nick Josh and Daisy when I trim the hair around their paws too. When I accidentally nick my dogs, I clean their boo boo and apply some Kwik Stop to stop the bleeding. I give them some treats after their grooming to make sure the grooming was a positive experience. They always give me kisses after the treats. Dogs are so sweet. I love the potty training idea with the bell. I would love to use that strategy with my dogs. Thanks everybody for the bell training tips. RachelandSadie, I am glad the bell strategy works for your dog. The potty training story was very cute. |
