Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Do yorkies get colds? Eddie has been sneezing and coughing and sniffing since we got back from a wet and cold 3 day camping trip. It's not constant, but just enough to make me worry. Other than that, his energy is as high as ever. We've been back for four days, and he's still doing it. Should I be getting worried?

| Yorkies do get colds, especially when wet since they have no undercoat. I hope you sweater him a lot! |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yeah, he had a fleece coat and a raincoat, but the conditions were particularly nasty. It rained nonstop and temps were in 40s. We kept him in the car or warm tent most of the time. I even came home with a cold, and I seldom get sick.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | We just called the vet, and they said that yes, it sounds like a cold, keep an eye on him and make sure he's not hot, can't sleep or his energy level drops off.

| Yes they do. Also know as URI (upper respiratory Infections) I have dealt with this twice already first Ruby my yorkie and then Valentino he had it twice. It takes long to get rid of about 2 months. Believe me I am very constant with medication. They cause horribly when they have it. I think mine got it from letting them out to potty at midnight and them getting wet in the lawn irrigated by the sprinklers. |

i am by no means saying you are 'overmedicating' youre baby, this is just meant to be food for thought....... there have been several articles in the past about OVERVACCINATING our animals as well, and some people say better safe than sorry, but what if they have a detrimental effect? like cancer ect... | |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Thanks, you guys. Your concern for my pup is humbling. I'm not sure if Eddie's feeling any better, but your sympathy has knocked my cold for a loop! Actually, he seems much better tonight. I'll keep an eye on him, but I'm thinking the worst is over.
