| Need ideas for our little dog meet ups? I host a monthly little dog meet up at my home in my yard.I need help with ideas to keep adults and dogs entertained. Last month I had a professional photographer come take posed and candid pics of everyone also a groomer give a nail cutting demo.We have had beach bodies contests ,door prizes, clothing swap and this month I am having a canine cookout guest speaker is from an animal emergency squad ..he will be showing us some animal first aid as well as their animal ambulance. I have even written to dog companies an many have been so generous to send me coupons, samples ,books on dog care just to contribute to our group! I have really had so much fun planning our events and know just how much fun everyone has.Anybody else have some creative themes or ideas for our pooch parties?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't have a fresh idea, but just wanted to say GREAT idea on the Emergency stuff. Knowing doggie CPR and the Heimlich is so great...and going over it every so often helps a lot. Sounds like you have super cool meetups, wow!

| Just for fun, you could have an agility course set up, or maybe ask a local sighthound club to come conduct a race for the little guys! (They use a lure for the dogs to chase, it is so fun!) Maybe you could have a pool party with several baby wading pools out? Or a treasure hunt? Pinata? Costume party? Search and Rescue demonstration? How about a therapy dog group coming? Cooking for the dogs? Wow, now I wanna come!

Thor's Human Donating Member | Wow, I'm jealous. Round these here parts, you just get a potluck, a dress theme, and maybe a little tunnel. One thing we've done that's REALLY fun is a race. People without dogs hold them at one end of the yard, and the owners stand at the other. On Go, everyone calls to their dogs, and they all run over at once. It's unspeakably cute and funny. Thor performed dismally last time, but I haven't given up hope.

| I have a member of my meetup who sews outfits for the babies so she asked if we might have a fashion show using our member pups as models. I think we'll have a blast she uses long tables with carpet as a runway for the pups. What my members don't know is that whatever their pet models -they get to keep!! Too cool- it gets the business free publicity and we all have fun! it sounds like you have a great time so whatever you come up with should be a great time for everyone! |

| 1. How about a doggie fashion show and we could donate proceeds to a doggie rescue or shelter. Maybe in exchange they could come do a presentation. 2. Maybe have the meetup at an agility course and have an instructor put us thru the course. 3. A doggie trainer to come put on a presentation 4. A group hike or walk. 5. Have someone come and talk about therapy dogs 6. Special holiday themed visit from Santa or the Easter Bunny w/photos (I'll take the pics) 7. Halloween party with costume contest 8. Flea market/craft fair type meet where vendors could come with different items (this would take alot of planning and probably a larger venue but something to think about) 9. Someone to come and do eye certifications? I see they do this at the dog shows for a $25 fee. 10. I would love it if we could do some sort of weekend retreat somewhere with the dogs. This is becoming a big thing now but don't know if there are any locally. 11. Visit from a local celebrity dog. (don't know if we have any around here? I think I might have heard about a labradooble) I'll keep thinking..... |
