| legs perthe disease I have been delving into this disease in relation to Yorkies and wanted to know any other experiences other people have had. My 2 1/2 year old male had both back hips done, and he is doing great. Is this something that all yorkies or small dogs may experience or was I just lucky? |

My little boy is actually recovering from having his right hip done. He is doing pretty well, all things considered. His vet couldn't believe the rate of deterioration, and we had to operate sooner than any of us imagined we'd need to. But he's getting around almost like normal. He still holds his leg up sometimes, but I don't think it's from pain. It seems to be more habit than anything. How long ago did your male have his surgeries? It's usually found in young ones.

| Piper had surgery for Leg Perthes Disease on her right hip last December. She's 100% back to normal. We take daily 3 mile walks and she never carries her leg any more.
