| Chew/Bully Sticks***A story about Buddy PLEASE watch your babies with them!!! Several years ago I gave Buddy a chew stick. He was so happy, chewing away. After awhile I seen him trying to dig in his mouth. He then started coughing and choking! I tried to stick my fingers down his tiny throat but I couldn't retrieve it. I grabbed him and my car keys. Ran out to the car forgetting money and locking the front door. Got down to the stop light, a off duty k-9 cop was in front of me. Crying. Got out of the car, screaming at the cop that my Buddy is choking. The cop told me that there was a vet just down the street. Told him that was where I was going! That HE WAS IN THE WAY!! The cop turned his lights on, stopped all traffic and let me go. Got to the vet. I didn't even have my car in park, my door opened and the same cop had my dog in his arms!! He ran him in to the vet and by the time I reached the door, sobbing. The vet had him on the table with a hemostat in his hand. The vet pulled out a two inch chew stick that was stuck sideways in Buddy's throat! I was still crying thanking the cop, the vet, the person who's dog was on the table and everyone else. Left came home an hour went by. I forgot to pay them. Called and they said no charge. I had a happy ending that day, but PLEASE DO NOT leave your babies alone with chew sticks!! |

| I agree I got my baby one of the chewy sticks with a knot at the end and he chew knot of and tried to swallow it, luckily we got it out of his mouth before he swallowed. Ok for a big dog but not a yorkie.

| I think that has happened to many of us. I watch the chewys, and when they get about 3 inches, I take them away. I also take them if they are all chewed up and slimy, seems they like to choke on those too.

Thor's Human Donating Member | Hey no worries, sharing stories is the best way to keep him a part of you. I will definitely remember this. Maybe I'm lucky Thor is not a big chewer. I've tried just about every kind of bone I can think of, and he's just not that into them.
