| Please tell me to STOP worrying..... unless I SHOULD be worrying, then tell me the truth and I will just keep it up lol My sweet little boy woke me up this morning puking. He threw up just a tiny spot on my bed and then it was like he was still trying to throw up some more (dry heaving I guess) but WITH reverse-like sneezing! His whole body convulsed while he did this and it sounded like an asthma attack or something along with it. It only lasted maybe a minute, but after that he just went to his bed in the crate. NORMALLY while I am getting ready in the morning, he runs around like crazy dog. I even picked up my keys to test him bc that ALWAYS gets him running to the door, but he just picked his head up and looked at me. At that moment I decided when I was finished getting ready he was going to the vet. Well, the next time I came out and checked on him (just a few minutes later), he was running around like his usual self. He even ate a treat I gave him. Then when I picked up the keys he ran to his door as usual. Seemed 100% normal at this point. I waited and watched him for awhile longer (decided to be late to work) and he still seemed okay, so I left him home. Now I'm worrying he will have another "episode" while I'm not there and something will happen to him. I've only owned big dogs before and a friend here at work said her small dog would do that a lot. He does tend to throw up a little bit a few times a week. Am I just used to having a big adult dog (had my last dog for 16 years) so I'm overreacting to "normal" puppy pukeiness? Also, is the reverse-sneezing thing at the same time (like he couldn't breathe), something to worry about. I'm worried sick now and wish I wouldn't have left him!!!!!! Please help! |

| I think you should have him checked by a vet. What you think is reverse sneezing may actually be collapsed trachea. You will not know for sure unless a vet checks his trachea.

| Yes have the vet check him, we can't sit here and assume . I hope he will be fine and it's just normal puppy stuff. You sound like a really caring person. Sending good thoughts to you both |

| Thanks chachi. I had worried about that in the past, but then did a lot of research and everything fit with reverse sneezing, not collapsed trachea. He only does that noise about once a week, at most. I will get it checked out, but in the meantime if that IS what it is, is he going to be okay today? |

| I had read that with a collapsed trachea the mouth would be open and with reverse sneezing it would not be. His mouth is always closed and it does SOUND like an inhaled sneeze. Man, I really hope it isn't a collapsed trachea!! Usually when he makes the sound it's after he runs around with the "zoomies" and is playing really hard. Now that I think about it, it may happen 2 times a week or so - not really sure. |

| OMG that is terrible!! Thanks so much for the information Chachi. I will definitely have that checked out. He has had a couple of full checkups since I got him, is that something that would have been noticed then? He has made the noise ever since I rescued him and I've NEVER used a collar on him. Gosh, I hope he is okay until I can take him in tomorrow. It would happen a lot more often if he were close to death though right? |

| Thanks so much Chachi I can understand why you want to educate people, as that story is just awful!! I I did just read some more on the symptoms though, and it really doesn't sound like Pixel. He never coughs, so that sounds like a good sign. Also, I am reading it happens more in middle-aged and overweight dogs, and Pixel is neither. Was the dog you are talking about overweight or older? I will see how he is tonight and if he's okay, I will wait until Friday when I was already planning on taking him to doggy day care (also my vets office) and have them check him out while there. I sure hope he doesn't have that and all is okay. I can't bear the thought of my little one being sick with something that sounds so awful! |

| The dog I spoke of was an older dog. I have had mine checked for it also because they would honk when they get excited
