| We used the crate when potty training. Bailey never liked it. So after the potty training phase we no longer used the crates. To answer your question- treats might help? Good luck!

| Toss a treat in. Also make sure the bottom is super fluffy. I put fleece pillowcases on bed pillows and filled the bottom with those (our crate is huge, they share and are already potty trained) If you put a comfy bed in there, they will sleep in it especially when they want privacy or quiet. Mine are always part of the action but if we sit and watch TV they go sleep in there like they would any of the other 5 dog beds |

| I have the same problem with Stella! She will go in for the treat but stretch so her hind legs stick out. I have to push them in and the quickly close the door. I want her to go in on her own. I have tried to make it plush by putting in towels and bedding but she will pee on them so I had to remove them (she is still in the process of being house trained). It is frustrating and I hope when she is fully trained I can place bedding in it and she will like it |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I think it depends on the dog. Cali loved her doggy playpen and when I would say I was going to Nana's she would run in there. Once she was trained she wasn't crated. Pixie hated the crate and I never could get her in one. She was 13 months when I got her so I let her be in my bedroom with papers down. Roxie was fine in the crate. I still have it in my room with the side opened an she goes in there all the time to nap. I just kept a comfy bed in there and put a safe toy with them. Try and make him excited to go in and give him a treat.

My furkids Donating Member | When Lillie slept in the crate (it is all wire) I covered 3 sides and the top with an old blanket. I left the front uncovered...kinda makes them feel they are sleeping in a little cave ...I made a very fluffy pillow to go on the bottom...Lillie used to love going into her "bed"...until my DH started putting her in bed with him before I went to bed...Now she...AND Sadie both sleep with us...good thing we have a big bed!

| I am currently crate training a new baby. She did not like going into her crate at all. So each time I put her in it I gave her a treat with lots of praise. Now she runs into her crate after we come back in the house and waits for her treat. I also cover 3 sides and the top of her crate. This seems help calm her down and cuts down on the whinning and barking. |

| Pixel knows "go to your room." When I tell him that when I leave for work, he goes right in and sits on his bed awaiting his treat lol Though he isn't in just a crate. He is in an exercise pen ATTACHED to his open crate. I taught him that "trick" in just 3 days. I would throw a treat in every morning and then when he ran in to get it I would say "good go to your room." Now when you say "go to your room" he just goes Good luck! |

| Fergus loves his crate. Its his own "den". Part of it is from day one I made sure the crate was there, with his recieving blanket (from his breeder) and his favorite toy. We just left the door open for him to go in and out as he pleased. If the only time your dog ever gets in is when you put him there, and he gets locked in, it probably won't feel as much like "his space" as a punishment space. Just leave it in a room close to you with the door open, all the time. It may still work (but some things have to be started early) Good luck. Also, I don't ever put food or treats in. its his sleepy space, not a play space or food space. |
