| Ears Hello everyone!! I am new to this site, I just picked up my new puppy, 9 weeks old, on sunday. I was wondering though, is his ears supposed to already be erect? The breeder told me to just keep them trimmed and that they would stand up on their own. I had a yorkie when I was younger, but I can't recall if her ears were already standing up when she was a pup. Can anyone please tell me? Thanks!! |

| I would keep the hair shaved and not worry until closer to 12 weeks. Some take longer than others to stand. Some have thinker ear leather or larger ears and may take a while or need help by taping to stand. Some also stay down. |

| gracie's ears came up at about 4 months, one before the other. My groomer keeps the weight off the ears (the hair can be heavy). I had heard that the ears will sometimes drop during teething but gracies never did I would love her anyway if they dropped and never came back up. Her ears have never had an infection since they came up as well........... |

| Ravens ears didn't stand up until she was about 14 weeks old. It was funny because when she was about 12 weeks old, her ears were playing games. One day one would be up,one down. The next day both up in the morning, then by night one would be down. Then one day she woke up they were both up and stayed there ever since. I personally think they look really cute down. Have a great time with that new puppy, and your going to love this site. I don't post as much as I should, but I always take advantage of all the useful information here.
