| Any advice PLEASE... I took Lexi to the vet tonight and I am so torn. Here is the story My big ? is should I have my vet redo the spay or should I take her somewhere else? I do like my vet, but I don't want to be nieve. Money is NOT an issue. Part of me thinks my vet already knows what is going on so stick with her. The other part of me thinks they had their chance so screw'em and go somewhere else. What would you do?

| SECOND OPINION please. You can always go back to your doctor but a second opinion is always a good choice.. |

| That is a really tough decision...will the vet that you had spay her the first time do ALL of the necessary things that need to be done at NO charge..Even if this was part of the deal I would still be worried a bit it they have already messed up once...I am sorry, not much help here.

| OMG!! That's horrible!! That is such a tough call. Part of me says to not go back they should know what they are doing as a spay is sooo routine(they should not have messed up). The other part says to take her back cuz they know the problem - but what's to say they won't find the ovary again and dig around again causing MORE PAIN. I'm sooo sorry I wish I could offer some advice.... that's such a hard decision

| They are going to do everything at no charge. I know she is in heat, I was just hoping not. First off her nipples started getting bigger over the weekend(not huge just bigger). Then this morning we went to petco and this little black dog kept howling everytime he saw Lexi, I didn't think anything of it, I just joked around and said "well Sexy Lexi at least he's cute" then when Prissy012899 asked if she was in heat I started thinking more and more about it. Then when we arrived at the vets office and she looked at her she said OMGosh, I think she maybe in heat. There are several vets in this office and when Lexi's surgery was done 2 of them actually came in and helped look for her ovary and her second kidney. (supposedly she only has one kidney also, and this they even did an ultra sound to try to find it.)That is why I don't believe she was just careless. Also the night of Lexi's surgery I called them and talk to a different vet and as soon as I said Lexi's name they all knew who I was talking about.

| Thank you all, for your support. I am so upset. I've been crying all evening and poor Lexi knows something is wrong. You have no ideal how much this means to me right now. I am going to talk to another vet in the morning and not just one. I'm also going to call the overnight offices and get their opions.

| I am so sorry you are having to go through this!!! The stress of one spay surgery is enough to make anyone crazy but TWO!!!! I would say to stick with the same vet...they sound like they were thorough (sp??) the first time...but how do you miss an ovary??? That is the weird thing to me....You might talk to another vet about the situation and see what they think....Good Luck....Gracie sends Lexi LOTS of hugs and kisses!!!!

| I would be really upset too - and I think you are doing exactly the right thing by getting some more opinions. I'm so sorry, I know I would be sooo upset too. Good luck and let us know what happens.

| It has been over 3 months since she was spayed, they want to do it right away while the ovary is enlarged. I did just talk to a 24 vet and he said that it is something that happens, not real offen but does happen. He said that because my vet had another vet come in and look he believes her ovary is very tiny and nearly impossiable to find. A yorkie ovary (from wht they told me) is smaller round, and yet a tiny bit longer than a pea, while in heat and for a short time after the ovary is a tiny bit larger than a nickel.

| I know it's awful. I've been through spaying my best friends a number of times, so I know how it feels. I also know how I'd feel if I was in your shoes. But I keep thinking that it has to be done and I don't see any other option, because cancer later in life is a real risk plus the discomfort of going through heat every time. I know I'd have it done. I just can't help but wonder if they couldn't find it last time, why do they think they can find it this time? I don't believe she has only one kidney, either.
