| Dog Shows Hi I went to my first dog show today . I didn't take Kiki because I wasn't sure if you are allowed to bring your pet dogs. Does anybody know if you are allowed to bring your dogs with you . Also I would like to attend agility shows, same ?. Kiki is really good when we go out she doesn't say a word. I've only taken her to petsmart and around town because I'm not sure where I'm allowed to take her. I would love to take her to the mall but unsure if she would be allowed . Any insight would help

| Dogs that are not being shown are not allowed at AKC dog shows. But I have seen lots of non-showers with their dogs at every show I have been to. I think if someone complains you have to leave the show. Not sure about agility unless its going on the same time and place as AkC conformation shows.

| Agility, Rally, and obediance usually goes on at the same time, just in a different area of the show. I have friends that do Rally and Confirmation. You should see them run back and forth when times are close to one another. It is best not to bring your own dog unless they are showing. We have seen owners dogs that do not show run across rings, bark at the ones in the ring, or block the entrance to the ring. This can be upsetting to the exhibitors. It is hard enough showing let alone when these other things are going on. They are starting to crack down on this now, my club mentioned it for the last year's show and they mentioned it again for this show to be on the watch. Was the show in WPB?? You had to see some very nice yorkies. I am so glad you went. It really is a lot of fun no matter which part of showing you do. My daughter is getting into obediance and Rally and I do confirmation. It is so nie though to go as a family. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Sounds like fun either way I've been wanting to start showing but I NO idea how/where to start...any suggestions? Do you have to have AKC papers on your dogs to show? Mine are purebred but I did not get their papers as I did not pay "full price".

| You must have AKC papers to show in AkC conformation.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you, that's what I thought Do you know how one would begin showing? Are there other types of shows not requiring AKC registration, just for fun-type shows?

Senior Yorkie Talker | My Champion show dog shows better when I bring another dog with her. I just keep that dog in the RV while I am showing. So I guess if they dont want your other dog there they will tell you. I know at a UKC show you can bring your other dogs. I have seen people drive by and see the show going on and stop with there dogs.

They start at 9 years of age to 18. For Specialty Shows - location and dates - you need to go to Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and go to Regional Club, Specialty Show Calendar: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Haircuts - we do not cut under their muzzles for show - we want it to grow as long as possible. Here is a photo of one of my girls and then the second photo is her shaking her head. She will be going out next to start showing in late August. When I lived in WPB years ago the shows were at the Auditorium by the mall and now they are at the Fairgrounds down Southern Blvd. Last edited by topknot; 07-13-2009 at 05:04 PM. | |

However, what do you mean you didn't get papers cause you didn't pay full price? Was your breeder charging you more for the papers?
