| Jailhouse Rock I must tell everyone about my brush with the law this week. I was walking out of the mall into the parking lot when I noticed a mall security car parked behind my SUV. A man and a woman were standing beside my auto also. As I approached, the woman asked if I was the owner of the black car parked beside mine. I told her I was not, and asked what the problem was. She said there was a little dog locked in the black car. I looked inside, and there wasa a precious, tiny choclate brown chiuaua inside. The poor little thing was shaking and panting like crazy. The lady had a cup of water, but couldn't reach the dog to give it to the dog. The mall security guy was just standing there doing nothing. There was a small opening in the window. I have small arms, and I reached in, unlocked the car, and got the dog out. His little body was burning up. Then the security guy starts yelling at me, saying I had commited a crime. The other woman and I were arguing saying I had saved a little dog in distress. He kept saying it was "breaking into an automobile". I said " Well go ahead and call the police" He was in the process of doing that anyway. In the meantime, the owner of the dog, and the car comes out, sees me with her dog, and proceeds to cuss me out. I was still holding her dog. She took it from me, and said she wanted me arrested. I , said I didn't care, and told her she could have killed her dog. The police arrive. The policemen started telling me that I had commited the crime of breaking and entering, and that I was in big trouble. I told him to go ahead and arrest me, and haul me off to jail because i would do the same thing again if it meant saving the life of a dog. I then said when they put me behind bars, I wanted the newspaper there to take a picture, and I wanted to call the Humane Society, a.nd any other animal protection group I could find to come to the jail. Then everyone would know that with all the other really bad things going on, they arrested me. and put me in jail for rescuing a a little dog. He just shook his head, and went over to talk to the idiot girl who owned the dog. I called my husband, and told him that I may be going to jail. (I've never even seen the insdide of a jail). He's in Alabama. I'm still in Knoxville where I can be close to UT Vet School while my little Yorkie recovers from AAI surgery. The policeman came back too talk to me. He said the girl had commited a crime also by leaving the dog in the car, and that no one would be arrested. Well that's the story of how I almost had a record, finger prints, mug shot and all. Sorry this is so long. I didn't know how to shorten it. Tucker's Mom ( almost the jailbird) |

| You did right. It would have been a totally different story had you not acted on it and they all would have been singing a different tune.

| You did great! We need more heros like you, willing to risk it all to make sure the little dog did not die from heat! Why on earth people continue to leave pets and children in hot vehicles with all the press deaths from that practice has gotten, I do not know!! That must have really upset you. Here you were in another state, awaiting recovery of your little dog from AAI surgery and here a woman blessed with a healthy little pet just leaves him in a car to bake! Grrrrr...... hope she will at least think twice before doing it again.
