| Is my baby pining? Hi, I have just come back home after a week in hospital. While I was in there my 14 month old, housetrained Yorkie, started going to the toilet in the house. He did this on about 4 or 5 occasions, mainly on the laminated floor areas of the house. I live with my mum and he stayed at home with her, so I am wondering whether he was pining as he is very active otherwise. He did do it again this morning in the bathroom and looked very shame faced when I discovered it. Has anyone else experienced this kind of behaviour from their Yorkies? |

| Not so much the yorkies but my dachshund was very spiteful when she was younger. Almost everytime we had to leave her alone, she would go on the floor. You could tell she didn't even have to go and had to really try to squeeze something out (sorry to be so graphic) but that is how we knew she was doing it to get back at us for leaving her. She would leave it in the hall by the door to my bedroom. She's almost 17 now and if she has an accident we just attribute it to age.

| I recently had a stay in hospital also and Curly did the same thing. The kids said she whined and whimpered, especially at night for me so one of my sons slept in my bed and she slept next to him. Seemed to do ok that way. But, she wouldn't potty on her pads while I was gone, only in the kitchen (I'm a chef so most of my time is usually in there) so I assume she was pissed at me. I thought she was going to have a heart attack when I came home. She went completely nuts! She's back to her normal routine now, only took about a day and a bunch of Nature's Miracle! p.s. hope you're feeling better!

| Thanks for your replies ladies! I ended up taking Denzil to the vets last friday as I was still finding little 'surprises' in the bathroom. The vet gave him a thorough examination and said he was fit and healthy and therefore it probably was 'Separation anxiety'. She gave me a paste to syringe into his mouth morning and evening and it worked really quickly, he hasn't had any incidents since and it is binding him up. He is back to his normal self and as cute as ever. As for me, I had breast reconstruction surgery(had mastectomy Jan 08) which was why I was in hospital for a week and look as if I have been in a sword fight but am coming along nicely. Once again, Thanks and best wishes to you. Tracy and Denzil xxx |
