| Tusks?? i've searched all over in the "teeth" threads, and have not seen anything like this. first let me say, i have shown dogs since i was 6 years old. i am now 43, and i have never seen anything like this. i have heard of this in chinese crested's and i am wondering if this is a "yorkie" thing also. forrest for the most part has a nice bite. a couple retained bottom k-9's, no big deal. the part i'm freaking out about is, he has, what looks to be, 2 teeth coming through the gum ABOVE the 6 front small teeth. they are pointing straight out. to give you an idea as to the severity, (this would never happen), but...if you were to say slap his top lip, right under his nose, he would be stabbed. what is this? has anyone ever heard of this? i put in my "hello" thread that i raise shih tzu's. they usually dont have the prettiest mouths, but this is just strange. help? lol |

| I get what you are trying to describe and honestly if it was my dog, we'd be headed for the vet to do xrays to see what was really going on. Anyway you look at it, that's not a good place for teeth to be coming out. Poor baby, and poor you too! Please let us know what you find out.

| thank you for your reply! right now, the teeth are not bothering him. just the tips are protruding. i am keeping an eye on them (every day), as i am waiting for his other testicle to drop, and then we will go in to be neutered and have the 2 baby k-9's taken out, along with getting "whateverthisis" taken care of! i dont want to keep putting him under. he eats, plays and is comfortable. at this point, it bothers me more than it bothers him! i will definitely keep everyone posted, and who knows, maybe once this is said and done, i will be able to answer questions for someone else that may have this "strange" issue. Donating YT 10K Club Member | I agree a trip to the vet's is in order and no what you describe is not typically found in yorkies. His retained baby teeth need to be removed also.

| If you are describing what I think your are, it is just his baby teeth that have been pushed up and outward. I had a little guy do that one time and it looked so scary. By the time he was 8 months old they all all fallen out. I am sure he will be just fine. |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | have you got a pic? It might give us some idea what we are dealing with and how old is he?

| thank you all for your posts! it could be the baby teeth pushed up as bjh stated. my only issue with that, is that they arent just right above the line of teeth, there is a bit of space between those, and the line of teeth. i know it sounds confusing! i do not have pictures of this, but i will try to get some today. i call them "tusks"..but instead of coming out by the canines, they point directly out the front of his mouth. (and again, they are very small and do not interfere with anything or cause him discomfort.) thanks again for the feedback!! it is much appreciated |
