| New yorkie owner! Hello! We just adopted a year old male yorkie named Brodie. We also have a 130lb Anatolian Shepherd, 2 cats, and 12 chickens. I'm also the mom to twin 3 year old boys I am attempting to crate train Brodie and want to steer clear of the pee pads...my boys would play with them and my other dog would eat the mess. From reading this forum I'm learning that yorkies are not the easiest dog to house train. Any tips are appreciated! I'm being very consistent with taking him out every hour, but he still prefers to pee/poop in his crate. I took some of the poop outside and put it under a tree which I take him to immediately when we go outside...but he still isn't getting the idea. Thanks! |

| Welcome to YT! I just got my Roscoe a couple weeks ago, but he was 9 months old and almost fully housetrained. I just took him out a LOT at first and made sure to give him a treat and tons of praise when he pottied outside. Good luck!

| Welcome to YT!!! Good luck with the potty training. Some of them can be very stubborn. I am having a horrible time with my 8 mth old. She is just stubborn. She only wants to poo inside except of the morning.

| Welcome to YT! Patience is going to be the word you'll hear most... Yorkies don't seem to get housebreaking as easily as other breeds but we are all here to support you! Cheers, Lorene

| Hey there, We are neighbors..I live in Wylie. Some of us get together about once a month for a play date. Would you like to Join us? We have one YTmember in Allen and one in Mckinney and one in Plano. Please come join us with your baby. Housetraining requires consistancy. Every 20 min take him outside and give a command. As soon as he goes give him a treat and bring him right in. Dont let him stay out and play. Cant wait to hear from you. |

| Welcome to the YT family. Potty training is probably the most talked about issue on the board so there will always be something to read on the subject. Good luck and enjoy your little Brodie. |
