| tipping groomers Hi everyone, this may seem like a silly question, but how much do you tip your groomer, if at all? I've taken Buddy to the groomer several times and always wonder if I should tip 20% of the cost of the groom. Buddy had a bad groom once, but my fiance' insisted that we should still tip her what we normally give, even though it was a bad haircut. I didn't agree with him. So I was wondering what everyone else does regarding giving your groomers tips. |

| I usually tip my Groomer $10 per dog ($20). She always does them while I wait and doesn't ever do anything that I don't ask her to do. She knows my dogs and likes them, so I have peace of mind.

| My groomer owns the shop, and she will charge me $40 to $50. And $10.00 per dog just for nails, if that is all I do. So should I give her a tip?? I never have because she is the owner.

| We also tip our groomer $10.00. Our groomer works in the back of a doggie Boutique and is very kind and gentle to Bella. That in itself makes all the difference to me.

| I give $5 tip and it costs $25. This is only for trim and ear cleaning (I give him a bath and blow dry him myself). I once didn't give tip because it wasn't the groomer that always does him. I guess she was busy on that day but didn't tell me some one else was doing it. Anyways he looked so ugly I almost cried so I didn't tip her.. I mean tip is for doing a good job right??

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | for those who don't tip the owner of the shop i give you something to consider: In the shop i just started grooming at we pool our tips. two groomers, and a bather split all the tips from the day. i know of a lot of shops that do this. So if you do not tip the owner just because she owns the shop you are also not tipping the bather/dryer, or the other groomer who may have helped in some way. also some shops have a head groomer or shop manager who takes the dog in. you may think that this is the person grooming your dog, but it may not be. make sure you know who is actually grooming your dog. If the shop you go to just has the one groomer and no other help then that's a different story. Oh and before i became a groomer i always tipped $10, same as i do for my own hair stylist.

| Okay, I feel like a horrible person now. I've never tipped a dog groomer before! We always cut my previous pup's hair at home. Addie is the first pup I've had groomed, and I've only had her hair cut twice. The first time was at PetSmart. Where do you even tip there? They just give you a bill you take up front, and I don't think there's any place to put a monetary tip. The second time was at this grooming place called Pink Poodle. I saw a carafe with some cash in it, but there was only change and a few dollars in it, so I thought tipping at a groomer was like tipping at Starbucks: nice to do it but not really required.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | when i worked as a bather at petco a few years ago people would either give me a tip before they went to pay or they would come back after they paid to give it to me. there was no place to leave it. they had to give it to the actual groomer or the salon manager, if there is one.
