| Should Roxy Go To Daycare?? I am thinking about putting Roxy in daycare when she gets a little bit older. Right now my dad puppy sits for me while I am at work. He watches her for me during the day but doesn't check to make sure shes eating or even continue my crate training during the day. Basically, when I get home she has peed everywhere but when I am there she makes sure I see her to go the pads. I know shes being loved but I want her trained to ya know?? My dad will not work on training her (I had this problem before with my chi). Should I put her in daycare or just hope that my training sticks?????

| Consistency is the best for her. I am lucky and work from home so I was able to spend some time training her. I did put Lola in day care for socialization and she loves to play with other dogs. They do not train her at my daycare to potty on the wee wee pad, but they do walk her every 3-4 hours and feed her. She is in a small group called Tiny Tots in a small room with other puppies or small dogs. It would be impossible to try and pee pad train them since some dogs just pee wherever since they are not trained by their owners and others like Lola only pee outside and are taken on walks. They also have a behavorist there that integrated her into the group and gives me progress reports on her. I would put her in daycare so she can interact with other dogs and get some sort of consistency, but peeing everywhere is not good. |

| Thanks for your reply. The daycare that I am looking into does potty train them and does some simple behavior training with them. I am still undecided but I love your input.

| If they train her, that seems like a good deal! If it isn't too pricey at least. I'm only gone from 7-12:30 for school so I've never had to take my dog to day care. I do watch other peoples dogs for day care. Sometimes I leave for a few hours to go volunteering, but they don't mind since he/she would be alone 12 hours if they left them!

I think the price is good, it is $7.00 per day. I don't know about a half day (which is what I am considering) so I need to check on that. Is 7.00 a day a good price??

| Wow, $7 is the lowest rate I have ever heard of. In the Northeast, $25-$35 is more common. At that price (or actually at any price) I would ask alot of questions. It sounds like you already have asked alot. Just try an internet search for how to choose a doggy daycare, and you will find checklists to make sure it is a high quality safe daycare with good cleanliness and constant supervision. It sounds like a good place so far since there is a behaviorist and separate small dogs area. Good luck! London goes to daycare everyday, and she has grown into a lovely young lady because of it. |

| Wow, $7?! I charge $20/day and that's like the cheapest anywhere around here. I'm amazed. How much space do they get?

| It is strange how much the price varies for doggy day care. In Toronto it is about $30 a day. I was just researching it because we may end up relocating there. However, it is about $15 a day in the small Town I live in, and that is at the trainer's house. |
