| Anyone hear of Flexpetz??? A co-worker of mine has a young child and have been interested in getting a dog. I've been telling that it's a big responsibility for a child who just think that dogs are cute and that she'll end up taking care of the pup. Anyways, she told me she found this website FLEXPETZ - Flexible Pet Ownership they can pay a monthly membership and get to have a dog for a few days then return them and get another one. It sounds like a pet rental type of business to me. I have never heard of anything like this and not sure it's good for the dog. I told her that they can spend some time with Duke and I to see and if that works out then I can leave Duke with them for a day to try, I do trust her bc she grew up with a dog. Anyways, wanted to know what everyone else think of this pet rental idea...

| I thinks it's sick. It's like Flexcar. I can't believe someone would rent out dogs. That is the dumbest most inconsiderate thing I have heard in a long time. Whew sorry didn't mean to get carried away!

YT 500 Club Member | That sounds like alot of stress for the poor little dog (or big dog). Just get settled in and then whop! New home.

| Wow that is crazy..... Poor dog!!! The dogs are probably freaked out and scared all the time or overstimulated and out of control. This makes me sad !

Thor's Human Donating Member | I think I see how this could work. You have some mellow, ambassador-type dogs. The key is that they don't constantly rotate from home to home - they stay with their owners most of the month, and then spend a few days with a new family. It would be like dog-sitting. A lot of breeds need relatively little human connection. This guy today was telling me that he can leave his Corgis alone all day and they don't care, as long as they have each other. I can also see trouble with logistical issues - how do you vet the "renters", and what if one of your dogs bites someone - but in theory I think it could be a good thing. It would definitely give someone a real life taste of what it is like to take care of a dog.

| I think its difficult to really get a clear idea of what they do, this is off their website Quote:
The idea of simply renting a dog? I have to agree is terrible, but I am not sure that this is entirely the case with this company. [/B] | |
