| When you find the answer please let me know. Marley hates men too. My daughter's friend is staying with us, and if he leave the room and comes back in he starts barking all over again. We've tried the pennies in a can, the squirt water bottle, and him tossing treats Marley's way, but Marley is not going to adjust to him. I don't know if he's being protective or Marley is scared of him. Anyway, I understand how you feel. |

| won't stop barking It is just so frustrating! I have tried the pennies in the can and that makes him bark even more! I also tried a water bottle and that didn't do it either. And if I tell him to hush he just barks at me and growls!! I don't know what to do but I am thinking I picked the wrong puppy. We are getting NO where on house training either. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone. Good luck! Karen |

| Yorkies bark a lot of time out of insecurity and fear and this type of barking is likely to be loud and prolonged the way to get it to stop is to face these things head on If they are afraid of men Have a man they don't know come into the house Give him a bag of treats and have him Not Notice or approch the dog Just every once in a while have him drop a treat on the floor You'll see how quick the barking stops Do this a few times over a few days or weeks and the barking will be a lot less

| Pennies in a can worked great for me but you have to do it before the bark when u hear that first tiny growl and every time you hear it.

| Barking Thanks so much for the tip about dropping treats! I will get my son and husband to try it to see if that might help. He will even bark at me if I walk outside and come back in. LIKE WHO ARE YOU????? I talk to him and say his name to NO avail!! Ah ya ya! Now, any tips on housebreaking?? Thanks, Karen |

| house training My now year old Yorkie male is both paper trained and outside trained. I never punish for bad behavior - I only lavishly praise good behavior. I did the same with my skin kids and had no problem training them either. |
