| Should I get a boy or girl? Hello, new to the site, I have a 14 month old 5-6# little boy, neutered, spoiled (of course) who is desperately needing a friend to play with. I am home all day, and he is always with me, and he LOVES to play... I take him to the in-laws and he plays with their yorkies, but they are 11 and 12 years old, so they don't always want to play with my man Ollie.... So I want to get another dog for Ollie. However, the in-laws have 2 neutered males, and even though they are not intact, they still fight over territories and things.... so I was thinking, should I get a girl and get her spayed? What do you think? Who would get along with my man better? another neutered male or spayed female? if I got a female, they would not compete for territories, right? My dog is very demanding, he is bossy.. and i would not have it any other way...we love him so much... and so I know that i can't have an overly territorial dog, because this is Ollie's house.. please let me know what you think, and if you know of any good breeders in the northeast tennessee area, i would appreciate that too! | I would get a girl. I have a girl and a boy and they never fight. One would be lost without the other one

| I personally think a spayed female may be better. I have a male and female dog and they do fantastic. The opposite is usually true when either is with the same sex. Fighting breaks out!

| I don't think you could go wrong either way, as long as it was a Yorkie! If it were me, I'd get a little girl!

| Why not experience one of each? I have a boy and a girl and they get along wonderfully!! Good luck on your decision!

| i don't know if you should get a boy or girl. maybe try to have your dog meet the other dog in a neutral place and see if they like each other. welcome to YT!

| I'd probably look for a laid-back and submissive female, since it sounds like your dog enjoys his top-dog status and might not appreciate a challenger. This forum makes me badly want to adopt another yorkie! But my lap isn't big enough for two |
