| I'm so nervous! So tomorrow I have to take Addie to the vet to get her spayed. I'm so nervous! I know I don't want to breed her, so I feel like this is the best because I don't want to take any chances. I'm just afraid something is going to happen. I've had a poodle before, and we had her spayed without incident. But I was five, so I didn't really get what it all meant. I can't imagine life without my little pup! I know that spaying is a typical procedure done millions of times, but it still doesn't alleviate my worries. Plus, I love how active and puppy-ish she is (even though she's a year and four months now), and I don't want spaying to change her behaviour at all. Will it? And I love her smooth little tummy. Okay, that one is just silly, but I can't help it! I've got to stop giving her food and water at midnight and take her to the vet some time between 8 and 9.30 in the morning. Did anyone else have such anxiety the day before the spaying/neutering? What can I do to make her post op as comfortable as possible? We normally go for a walk around the neighborhood at night. Should we not do that for a while? I plan on going to PetSmart and a specialty pet store after I drop her off and buy tons of toys and treats to say I'm sorry!

| Aww, I completely understand how you feel! I was terrified when I had Chelsea spayed last year. I kept watching the clock, and called the vet's office so many times they had to be getting annoyed. I'm sure your baby will be fine, and I don't think it will change her personality any. As far as her smooth little tummy, you're not being silly at all!! I actually had the same thought once I brought Chelsea home and felt her incision. It may take several months, but the scar will eventually fade almost completely and she'll have her smooth tummy back again! I would ask your vet about the walks and about making her comfortable. Chelsea had a great surgeon and was feeling great within a few days. You and Addie will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow!! Please let us know when she gets out of surgery.

| Thanks for the kind words! I'm going to be bugging the heck out of the vet tomorrow with all of my questions. I've started making a list to make sure I don't forget anything. I have plans to go to the lake in Austin tomorrow with a friend while Addie's in surgery, but I'm not sure I can have fun! I'm relieved to hear you didn't notice any personality changes with Chelsea and that her tummy got back to normal. Thanks again! And I'll be sure to keep the post updated with Addie's post op!

| You're definitely not the only one who's ever been nervous about this. I think most of us were basket cases when ours went in to get fixed! In fact, I'm pretty sure that was officially my least-productive day at work EVER. I'm sure she'll be back to normal in no time at all--mine was bouncing off the walls again within a day. I'll be praying for you both! |

| Coral was spayed about a month ago. I was a nervous wreck! The vet reassured me, but i still called a few times! She was back to herself in about 2 days. I have 2 big dogs too, so i had my bf watch them while she healed. I couldn't believe she was jumping around in no time. Just a tip....I used newborn onesies so she wouldn't lick her stitches. She looked cute and didn;t have to wear a cone!

I've been putting off getting her spayed for so long, but I know I can't hold off any longer. I need to get it done, but I don't want to! It helps alleviate some of my stress by hearing everyone's pups healing so quickly. Thanks!

| She is about 4.7 lbs. i didn't have to alter it at all. instead of buttoning the middle button i put her little nub through it. it worked great and then i just had to unsnap it and roll it under for her to potty. if she did have an accident at least it didn't get everywhere!

| Thanks for the good thoughts and hugs! I just got back from dropping the little stinker off at the vet. She gave me the saddest look! Which of course drove me right to the pet supply store to buy new toys and treats. When I told the cashier why I was buying all of it, she looked at me like I was a little ridiculous lol. So now I have to wait and call back at 4.00 this afternoon. I can't wait for this day to be over!!

| Whew! Well thanks to all who sent hugs and good thoughts and great advice! Addie is finally back home! I was so stressed and nervous, but I couldn't bring myself to call the vet at all to check up on her. I was afraid of bad news. She did throw up in the car on the ride home and then peed on the carpet, but overall she's doing better than I thought she would. She was really drowsy at first and is starting to get slightly more active. I can't wait to have her sutures out and for this horrible experience to be over! I was given an antibiotic to refrigerate and give to her twice a day and pain medicine for once a day. She's totally mad at me, though. It makes sense since I'm the one who dropped her off at the vet's office. Normally when I ask for a kiss, she leans forward and gives me one. Now when I ask for a kiss, she turns her head the other way. And whenever I call her name or look at her, she has her ears back like she's afraid I'm going to hit her. *sigh* I can deal with being ignored, though. I'm just thankful she's okay. These little babies sure are stressful! But totally worth it.
