| Changing from Carpet to Wood Floors O.K., I work, and Apple's potty training is not going so well...Even when I kept her confined to the kitchen, she wasn't cooperating ...So now, she has the kitchen/living room, dining room and entry hall, and has decided the living room is one giant puddle pad...lol...I can't handle the wiz spots, so I'm getting wood floors (laminate, 'cause it doesn't stain) in the living room/dining room next week (the rest is tile)...My concern is her running around the room, on the wood floors like she sometimes does, on the carpet, and hurting herself...I'm hoping someone will tell me that she will instinctivly not run? If this isn't the case, does anyone have any "helpful hints from heloise" to pass on? Thanks so much... p.s...crating her and coming home for lunch is not an option... |

| Well I have laminate floor and mine are fine and run and romp area on them no problem. They are super easy to keep clean too. Pebbles has the occasional accident and I just use a little enzymatic cleaner and poof done. Once a week I like to use a little Murphy's Oil to mop and it just smell so clean afterward. I've had mine for at least 6 years and they still look great! I would suggest that you silicone all around the walls just incase there might ever be an issue with an accident getting along the baseboards. For instillation the recommend anywhere there might be water that could get to an outside edge (sink, window) but just to be on the safe side you don't want THAT kind of wet to get on the underlayment. Please be very careful because dogie pee and laminate is VERY SLIPPERY! I found that out the other day the hard way. I slipped and fell in my kitchen on a puddle and broke my arm in 3 places~I'm having surgery next week because of the severe break. I was barefoot and it was dark when it happened so just be very careful if you like to be barefoot. Lesson learned (the hard way) I will be wearing slippers from now on. *sigh*

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Keep that paw pad hair trimmed, Joey has done some major slides on our floors, but we have a fairly large area for him to run. The primary problem was a sliding glass door, and he'd run for it, try to stop, but kept sliding. Trimming the hair works great, or even a little throw rug in front of the door, until they get use to the floors.

| I just put hard woods in my home. PT will never get traction again poor thing. But I think he kinda gets kick out of running in place and the sliding. Accident clean up is a lot easier now. |

| I'm going to be doing the same as soon as I can get the $ together. My carpeting is a MESS, with 5 dogs it just isn't sensible at all. Coco is now doing all pee where she should and not on my carpets but I still want to make the change. Oh oh oh.. now I want it done like tomorrow. LOL
