Please help!!! My Yorkie is sad Hello everyone, My baby Rusty who is two and half years old has had a playmate for the last year and half, her name is Penelope and she belongs to my neighbor. Rusty and Penelope were inseparable. Penelope came over to our place on an almost daily basis, my neighbor would drop her off in the morning and pick her up when she came home from work. Unfortunately my neighbor had to move out of state and Rusty is suffering. He waits for Penelope in the mornings, goes to her door and sniffs around, it is heart breaking. I am trying to keep him as busy as I can by taking him to the dog run and doggie daycare plus I am giving him extra attention, but everything helps for so long and he eventually goes into this sad state. He mopes around, stares at the door and it's killing me to see him like this. Does anyone have any advice on how to make this easier on him? Thank you

Take him out for ice cream Always works for my Bently........ Seriously............ maybe it's time for a baby sister...... Good luck.......... This just proves that dogs do attach themselves to others and have strong feelings. My Bently loves to play with a neighbor dog and everytime I take him walking past the house the dog lives in he stops and looks at the door to see if his friend can come out and play...... The owners liked it at first but now have given me the feelings that they don't want me to bother them. My wife takes Bently to Petsmart every Friday for socialization play...... Maybe you can do that or join a local dog group that has meetings so he can find other friends.

| Have you thought about getting another Yorkie/dog? Seriously, getting our male a year after we had our girl was one of the best things we did. To see them play together is "priceless". Two Yorkies are way better than one.

Definitely time to think about getting him a little brother or sister. They need to have other dogs around. I think it helps their disposition.

maybe see if there's a yorkie play group ( or start one) I have a 5 yr maltese and a 13 mos yorkie and we meet with 6 other yorkies in the park from 2 to 3 every day. my dogs know instinctively when its 2 and time to go to the park. They have a hard time on weekends sometimes since we don't have play dates. thats when we try to go somewhere with them to socalize. a walk on the beach or a long walk in our neighborhood. or a drive to one of the dog friendly towns near by. Where we can walk sit outside a cafe with them and people/dog watch I only wish I would haved gotten a second dog sooner so my two weren't so far apart in age. good luck
