| Anyone with 8 or 9 month old yorkies. Laddy is 8 months old and his coat still seems pretty thin and not growing very fast. Wanted to see if some of you could post pictures of yours so I could kind of compare. Thanks. He is the one on the right.

| Apple is going to be 8 months old in five days, and her hair is thin too...I believe it's because I never got her baby hair cut off...I mean, even when I let my hair grow long, it seems to be thinner, but as soon as I have some cut off, it looks and seems so much thicker...I believe the weight of the hair pulls the new hair "down" and makes it a bit thinner...I've heard of pups getting shaved and then coming back thick and full, but I'm not doing that!!!I'm trying to hold out on a haircut (except ears/paws/bottom) 'till Apple is a year old, because I know she's going to look all grown up...Having said that, at least it's easier for us to keep tangles out of the hair, right? |

| Sophie is 9 months old and has a very thick, cottony coat. I too am growing it long. However, she was so warm here in Pa. that I chose this past Sunday to have it altered some. I'm at work so I can't post a pic but if you go to my home page you will see the picture of her with her new summer cut. I had all her layers trimmed up along the sides so they are now even and when they grow, it will look much nicer. Her belly is shaved, which is then called a "false skirt". I then had them trim up her feet so that everything was about the same. Her hair though, I must say, grows very fast. And get's very tangled quite easily. I believe the thin silky hair you are describing is what you want to have....so hang in there.

| First let me say your babies are cute!!!!! Uni's hair is thin as well. As I understand yorkies can either have a thick, fluffy cottony coat, or thinner, silky coat. Uni's is the silky kind. I won't post a pic of her at 8 months, cuz she looked fuuuuuuunky!!!! LOL When we just cut off her black puppy hair, and all growth spurt long legs, she looked to funny! Yours is looking much much better than Uni at that age! LOL

| Growing a coat depends on its genes for growing an appropriate coat and also care too. If your yorkie has a terrier, rough feeling coat - most likely it will never grow a long coat. If it has the hard silk coat - that takes much longer to grow. A red legged yorkie will also have a hard time growing coat, especially on its legs (this usually stays short). Cotton coated yorkies grow coat, but is a lot more work to care for, since they get matted often. Of course a nice correct silk coat - grows the fastest and best. This will feel like a satin ribbon - cool to the touch. Grass, carpet, and fabrics that your yorkie rubs up against can cut the coats. Here is my girl when she was about 9 months old. |

| This is my same girl at 2 years old. So you can see growth in coat and change in color she went through. She has a fantastic silky coat!! P.S. We had to cut the very bottom (ends) of her hair twice before this photo, since it was growing past the floor. I never cut her hair before that and never cut her puppy coat when younger. | Your baby has a beautiful coat to. Laddy's is like that on the sides but feet aren't as thick. Its funny I didnt notice his being thin till we got Lolita but she is 5 years old and has a really thick silky coat.
