| For those in the Metro-Detroit area... Do you know anything about Long Lake Animal Hospital on John R & Long Lake in Troy? Apparently, this place is super-cheap compared to other vets. My brother recommended it to me today as I need to get JoJo neutered soon. My vet quoted me almost $300 (), but my brother only paid $60 total for his dog's spay! I know my vet is pricey, but everyone there is so wonderful and the clinic is clean, and I never wait longer than 10 minutes to see the vet. As for this Long Lake place...some of the reviews online are horrible. I'm torn now. I would love to save money, and that's a HUGE savings, but some of the things I've read about this place scare me. Does anyone have any experiences with this place? |

| I personally haven't heard anything about them (good or bad). From what I read on Insider Pages, unless there has been a change in the vet(s), I wouldn't let Ellie set paw in there but that's just me. My impression is that the place is not kept up, smells gross, isn't the friendliest, would rather not answer questions, etc. Maybe that has changed...no idea. And some old time vets ignore proper anesthetic protocol (well actually young vets do too). You could always go there, ask for a tour and then make your decision. There are too many other good vets in SE MI to have to settle for something like that in my opinion. They may charge less for neutering but does that include the right type of anesthesia (very expensive but very safe), IV during surgery, surgery on a heated surface, monitoring and a dedicated tech helping the vet, preop bloodwork (this should run atleast $75 alone), an e-collar, etc.?

| When I lived in Michigan we always took out pets to the Humane Society. They do a good job and they are always affordable. |

| i live in michiagan not far from the airport. its the first time ive heard of them .but have you checked to see if they could be a learning school like internship sometimes these are great places and really cheap.also the petco wellness plan is something to look into as it is like 99 dollars down 21 a month covers office calls shots and spay or neutering .then 10 percent off any other services. this is good for the first year then you can renew but dont have to put the 99 down again just keep payments going.
