| Yuriy Ivanovich has arrived home on Tenerife just 4 hours ago. Born on 4th.May so he,s not yet 7 weeks old. At 1Kg50grms =35.4 ozs !! Seems like he is a bit of a giant. Cannot post a pic. yet. Camera batteries are flat! One question being:- he has done nothing except sleep oh and a huge pee. Although I,ve had dogs before they have always been Labradors and similar and normally 8 weeks old so were jumping around as soon as we had them. I do appreciate that he will have been stressed leaving his Mom and siblings but I,m surprised that he is not interested in food/water as yet. I know the addage, when their hungry the,ll eat but Labs never stopped eating. Any comment folks? |

| Congrats on your new boy!! Cute name! Did I read that correct? He's 7 weeks old? That still really young and he will be doing a lot of sleeping, especially after the stress of traveling. I know others will be able to give you some good advice on how to care for one so young. But you will need to watch his eating closely, it's very important for one so young to eat properly and often.

The point you raise is my only concern, never having had a Yorkshire Puppy before. Getting him to eat. I,m not too concerned to-day as I expected him to sleep with the move etc etc. To-morrow is the big day to see how he has settled. The one good thing is his weight now so he definately has strength. Goin to pay first visit to Vet to-morrow for worming and general inspection and take it from there! Thanks for replying and look forward to any other comments re food intake.

Booked him for 2 weeks time to start course of innoculations etc although he was wormed to-day and will continue that for several weeks/months, whatever is required. It,s always brilliant when you have total confidence in a Vet,s ability, especially the language thing! Just thought I,d let you all know. tried to upload pictures last night to here with no success but wouldn,t accept as image is too big (pixel wise I think). Maybe try later if time permits.

| Yuriy Ivanovich Yes, wer,r quite amused at the reaction of our Russian friends. Basically they NEVER call dogs after people,s first name. It,s possibly a sign of disrespect to people. However with me being Scottish and my wife only a Soviet by reason of her Motherland having been occupied and therefor having Russian as her first language, we both felt, to hell with tradition. Lets go for something different! So with the most famous Yuriy having been the first man in space and with my name being John (Ivan in Russian) Ivanovich is basically the son of John, loosly translated. Its also a name which Spanish people here will find very difficult to say there is lees of a possibility of someone trying to call him away. Problem solved! If I register him with the Kennel Club in the UK they may have something to say, well that,s just too bad He has spent his second night very peacefully, sleeping in his crate/play area designated for him. Has already been introduced to our version of pee pads quite successfully. Just the type we buy from local supermarkets for children who bed wet, obviously cut into 3 to save costs and none of this pee spray stuff. He recognises his pee although wants to GO a few inches away so naturally missses a bit if not facing HIS correct way. We,ve taken the views of our young Vet and already starting to wean him away from cooked chicken which he was previously getting, to a top of the range, all in one solid food. Not eating just as much as prescribed on maker,s recommendations but enough to satisy and, most importantly, taking water regularly. So, for a pup who is not yet 7 weeks (will be to-morrow) all in all he is much better than we might have imagined, although my wife had to be made aware that to have a good adult, it is so much easier starting all forms of training as soon as possible. Our poor cat who is 7 years old, male Balinese, has been knocked off his reigning position in the order of dominance. I really expected dramas but, making sure in a very calm way, that he is very muched loved in his own little way, we have had no problems. Obviously we have the cat understanding, that for the time being, Yuriy,s living quarters are out of bounds, until we feel totally comfortable with the 2 mixing and certainly after Yuriy,s completion of injections and the like. So ladies and gentlemen of the Board that,s a full up-date after only 2 days with Yuriy Ivanovich |

| I am enjoying your posts and want to add my WELCOME to you and Yuriy! A hint for getting pictures resized: There is a free program online called pixresizer. I downloaded that and can resize my pictures quickly and easily. A must for posting those nice MP-intensive pictures online! Look forward to seeing pictures of your little one!
