| Whistle Recall i have been training my furbaby Polo to come when i blow my whistle. He is doing great we practice outside on a long lead(14ft) and inside not on a lead and he comes almost evertime, to get a tasty treat(hot dog) and we have been doing this for a week. I am very proud of him. He was doing great on every other command except come one of the most important commands. I have some questions about whistle recall how many weeks should i give him treats when he comes? when should i start giving treats every other time? how long till he knows that the whistle means come ever single time? when should i stop giving treats and just praising him? how long till i can trust him of leash? Polo is one he turned one in May i read in a book that not untill they are eighteen months, can you trust them off lead(any younger and they are not fully mature) |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | I let Tia off leash about a week after she was ok to go out.I think she was 4 mths old. I took her to an enclosed field first and it was scary but I got more confident every day.Now she is 11 mths and spends most of the time off leash when we are out. There was a recall problem at first but she was very young. Thats improved now. It sounds like you are doing a great job with the whistle certainly saves the voice box lol
