| Remember that yorkie I found on Memorial Day? Well...he ran away again But then I found him the next day I took him with me to an event and a friend was holding him, he managed to get out of her arms and darted out the front door. He is very very very fast and it was too dark to see in which direction he took off. We searched for him for about 2 hours and I cried and cried. It was so sad. Although I was concerned about his safety and well-being, I was also concerned for myself. This rescue yorkie has become such a great companion. I'm a young single gal and I've never experienced someone waiting for me to come home until now. I love the feeling of driving up to my apartment, knowing he is anxiously waiting for me. I love the morning times when he wakes me up with xoxo. The next day at about 11:30 am, I recieved a message from a friend saying that they spotted him. We all went to look and my sister's boyfriend found him, but he kept running from everyone. I was simple walking in the area where he was spotted and calling for him. He came straight to me and at that moment I knew that I loved him and he loved me. I have done everything in my power to find the owner and I have given serious consideration to owning a yorkie. I have listed the pros/cons. I know that it is going to be an adjustment for me and for him. But I am willing to do it. All of this to say that I am an official Yorkie mommy. Now all I need is a name for the little guy. I also have to get him chipped and tagged. His teeth are really bad (IMO) so that needs to be fixed...oh and he has to be fixed as well. I am feeding him Wellness wet food, since he doesn't like the dry food at all. Its so much responsibility, but I think that we need eachother right now. I look forward to creating a closer relationship with all of you other yorkie parents. |

| Oh, my, how frightening!!! So glad he came to you. He loves you and trusts you. How great that must make you feel. I have a 'bolter.' Have a fence out both doors. Might look out of place it's just not worth losing a dog. We're trying to come up with an idea how to put up a permanent fence in the front that will look decent. Thought about planting shrubs all the way around it so it won't show. There are also wooden U-shaped fences that you can set up inside in front of doors that keep the dogs away from doors. Wonder if one of those gates that go between door frames would work? You'd just have to open it every time you went out. Again, I am so happy for you. Hang onto him tightly. ~Joanne~

| Oh, I was also wondering if he prefers soft food because his teeth are bad? Might not be, though. I have a 12 yr. old that has good teeth and she hates dry food.

| Oh no poor little guy...that's probably what happened the first time...he just darted away, although, the original owners weren't as fortunate to find him again.. Glad you were able to find him. I'm surprised with all the ads going around in CA of lost yorkies & families looking for them that nothing panned out for the little guy. Thank goodness he was lucky enough to find a nice warm home to take him in... If I remember correctly, you should not be solely giving him wet food as his only diet(other than raw maybe?). I do believe they need some dry kibble also for a balanced diet. You may want to post a thread in the health & diet section. I know they can be finicky but we as the mommies have to make sure they are getting what they need. You're doing a good job so far though to have this unexpected puppy ownership thrust upon you.

| CONGRATS ~ MOMMA You two were meant for each other! OMG I can feel the love thru the computer screen ~ isn't it amazing!!!! And the BOYZ are such love bugs too!!! I am sooooooooooooo excited for you Yes, do the dental, chip and neuter. You will probably have to vaccinate, since you do not know his past. Harness is best as the collar can damage his trachea. | As for the bolting....I have *taught* my dogs how yummy CHEESE is. And they know the WORD ~ CHEESE ~ so when the run and *pretend* to not listen to me yelling at them to get over here...I say "U want a piece of CHEESE" and they stop and race for the door back INSIDE for that Yummy piece of Cheese |

| BAxter is a bolter too. I keep him on a leash most all the time. I have to be very careful when I open the door. I have watched the Dog Whisperer episode with what to do to fix that but I have had no success. Fortunately we live in the country. Congratulations on your new baby. Sounds like y'all were meant to be together. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | It sounds like it was meant to be. Do you know how old he is? I have to wonder what kind of situation he came from with no collar, chip, or neuter. In any case, he is safe with you now! I did not really intend to become a yorkie owner either, but I love my little guy so much, it's ridiculous. I have learned SO MUCH here. Welcome!
