| Im going to miss my little furball when I start working As some may know i'm a recent college grad. Me and Munchie spends the WHOLE DAY TOGETHER playing, training and running around. Sometimes we even fall asleep together. I don't know what will happen when i start to work which will be in the next few weeks. It hasn't even been a week since I have had him and I can't imagine spending the day without him. What can I do to prepare him. Im also worried about potty training. We are working on it. He usually does his number two's outside but thinks his number ones should still be done inside and not on his wee wee pad. What should I do? |

| This is what I did to get him used to me leaving him, I took it in steps. I would leave him for a bout 30 minutes by himself then an hour then an hour and a half then 2 hours then 3 hours and just worked my way up. It's a gradual thing. You have to get them used to knowing you ARE going to come back for him, it is very hard on us and them. My bandit has bad seperation anxiety. He has gotten alot better but he still has it. So work with him. And if you think your going to fast then shorten the time your away from him and gradually work back up to it. Do this before you go back to work because if you don't he could end up with bad seperation anxiety too, and it can be very scary to see, I cried everytime I had to leave him and even when I came home because seeing him like that broke my heart, but I didn't have a choice I had to go to work. So just take baby steps. Now when it came to pee pad training....about every hour or sometimes less if showing signs of having to go we would take him to his pee pad and say "go potty" or just say "potty", the shorter the better, and if he pee'd we would get really excited and say "GOOD BOY" we'd say it a few times and give him a treat. He was trained in no time. If he pee'd by the pad, like right next to it we still rewarded him because he meant to hit the pad but his aim was just off, he would have like 2 paws on and two off. He finally figured out he needed to be all the way on it. Other members have told me if you catch them in the act of peeing somewhere else just pick them up and put them on the pee pad so he'll eventually put together pee and the pee pad. Good Luck!!

| I know a lot of YT members have been through this too. It is always very difficult to leave our babies when we have to go to work, or college. How many hrs. a day are u going to be gone? A lot of times they will sleep until the owner comes back, then want to play and be full of energy when you get home. Be ready for that Keep him in a safe area, and make certain he has plenty of food and water, toys, and place a balnket with your scent on it. This wll give him comfort. I would also start by leaving him for short times right now, then gradully leave home longer each time so he can be use to it.
