| Pure black Yorkie-poo Hi, I've had Pixie for 4 weeks now. I got her from a breeder at 6wks old....I know way too soon, but breeder would not keep her any longer. The minute I seen her I fell in love with her, so... I did everything I could to give her the best start she could have without her mother. Her father a yorkie was 4 lbs and mother a poodle(black) was 5lbs. I've been feeding her soft food(wellness puppy), every 4 to 5 hours including in the night and I just started to introduce her to small kibble(hollistic select small breed and puppy formula), and now she is doing sooo well!! When I took her to the vet the day after I got her she was only 1.2lbs. At 9 weeks she was 2lbs. She gets her second shot tomorrow (10 wks). She has had maybe 3 accidents with the puppy training and that is all. I really think I got a smart and strong puppy. This forum has helped me out in sooo many ways in the past month that I don't think Pixie would have been thriving the way she has without all the info I have gained through this site. I have a Jack russell X with a Chuhuahua who is 10 yrs old and Pixie and Jack get along sooo well with one another. Of course the introductions were done slowly over a wks time. Now they play with one another several times a day and love each others company. Pixie is being socialized very good. She is around children several times a week and even goes to a puppy-sitter when I have to go to work. My husband and I are sooo in love with Pixie that even though she was taken from her mother too young we are glad that we have her. I just wish that the breeder would have kept her until she was 12 wks to give her the best chance at having a wonderful and healthy life. Thanks everyone for all the information that has helped me take care of this little one from day one!!! |

| Welcome to YT. Firstly I would like to comment on how gorgeous your new baby is and secondly I think the breeder should be ashamed of themself for taking the baby away from its Mum so soon. However, I know she has gone to a wonderful home with what I read. Well done. So cute.

| We have tried to do our best to replace Pixies mother. I fed her with a syringe and by hand for awile. Now she eats from a small bowl that I have to hold for her sometimes. I feed her at 6:30am, 11:30am, 4:30pm, 9:30pm, and 2:30am. Pixie eats about a tsp-tbsp of soft food at each sitting along with kibble available all day until 10pm. Don't know when to cut back feedings. |

Mika is nearly 7mths now and I have made food available all the time to him. Unfortunately he is now 2lb over weight according to my vet. So I have cut down on his treats and I measure his food out now. I feed him in the morning and then at tea time. Its really hard because he is very greedy little man.

| Pixie does not eat much kibble at all....I just leave it out because I'm worried about the hypoglycemia. The vet told me to feed her every 5 hours so that is what I've been doing. I've notice lately though that she is eating less than she had before. I just finished switching her soft food from hill a/d from the vet to wellness puppy soft food. I think she is needing less at feeding time because the wellness is more filling for her. I take her to the vet tomorrow for her 10 week shots so I'll see what he suggests for feeding times. Any of your suggestions would be great too. I would eventually like her to eat more kibble though. I would guess she eats less than 1/4 of a cup a day. |

| Mika weights around 7.5lb. His Mum was 5.5lb and Dad was 4lb. So he is a big lad. I feed him Pedigree Small Dog Complete and they recommend 75g a day for his weight. Your vet is the best person to ask. They will weigh your baby tomorrow and I would go with what is the right amount for your babies weight. Let me know how you get on.
