Senior Yorkie Talker | Bella being fiesty! Help! Ok so my little Bella is only 9wks old and she is so sweet, but she has this other side of her that is out of control! I have a 6 month old Boxer and a 2 yr old yorkie. Well Bella is into biting everything right now. She has toys and chew toys, I even gave her one of those teething blankets for babies. Well she loves to play with our Boxer Mosley, and even though we supervise him and make sure he is being gentle, she is the one that is on attack mode! I thought it was ok at first, but now it's a lot more intense and she is even growling and barking. Mosley just lies there and takes it as she bites his ears, lips, legs, paws, cheeks, ect. She tries to play with my yorkie, Lucky, but he's not really interested, he moves away from her. However, the other day he was laying on the couch and she jumped up and started biting at his paw and all of a sudden Lucky yelped! We now stop Bella every time she is getting crazy like that, but it's just so constant I feel like I'm always yelling at her. My neighbors must think I'm a lunatic! I try to play with her toys, but she loses interest easily and moves on to Mosley. I would let her play but I just don't want Bella to grow up to be furocious! I want her to be my loving little girl! What should I do? Last edited by Lia; 05-27-2009 at 09:45 AM. Reason: Needed to add something |

| So much of this is just puppy behavior, you do have to watch and be sure that they don't grow into bullies, but like when Lucky yelped, if she gets too rough Mosley will yip too. But you are right to try and keep it from getting to that point. Yogi can be a bully about toys and although it's killing him, he is learning that when Gracie Ruth has a toy he can't steal it from her. They can learn proper behavior and it does feel like you are constantly yelling at them, but be calm, be consistent and the payoff will be worth the effort.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you so much TeresaM. That helps a lot. I just wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing by stopping it. How long does this puppy behavior usually last? When I got Lucky at 7months he was calm, of course he was the only dog, so maybe that had something to do with it all. Thanks again for your help! |

| I too have a 9 week old puppy and she is outta control sometimes! She goes through little spurts of energy and tries to eat everything (including me) and she runs around like a maniac. And then she suddenly stops and sleeps for an hour lol. Its just a normal puppy thing I think. I feel like I tell her "no" way too much but I think it'll be best in the long run.... Good luck with yours!

| I have a 3 year old lab mix and a 5 month old Yorkie, Mia. If Ozzy is standing by the couch she will literally launch herself off his back and over his head. He also drags her around on his tail. She latches on to pester him. When she was about 10 weeks old Ozzy yawned and she stuck her whole head in his mouth. I wish would have had my camera on hand. He is so good with her. Although,he does lets her know when enough is enough. We bought a rope for her and Ozzy. In the beginning I would place the rope in his mouth and then in hers. Finaly they got the concept and they play tug of war all the time. Good luck I know what it is like to have a small one...
