Thor's Human Donating Member | A lot of dogs instinctively take their food and run off to a "safe" place to eat it. However, if he's just dropping it next to his bowl, it may mean that he doesn't like the taste. Yorkies are very picky eats, which is not so yorkietastic.

Well....it's not really feeding time at the moment. We just have 6 bits of food....ah kibble or whatever it's called !! And he just picks up a piece of it and comes into the living room and places it on the floor ....... then again and again.....I go and put it back and he just repeats the action again.. When he is hungry he just gobbles his food up...... we sorta thought it's some kind of message to us. He's in a crazy mood at the moment.....so we are just waiting for the next crazy thing he does

Or hey, maybe he IS trying to communicate with you. Does the kibble spell out any words?

| When Ziggy does this it means he wants me to be around to watch him eat (so I can give him his dessert biscuit). I kid you not; when he is eating he stops to look at me to make sure that I see that he is eating, that he is being a good boy. He has been a fussy eater. Other times, if I'm in the next room, he will bring a piece at a time in to eat in front of me.

But back to Dolce....maybe since he isn't trying to hide it or carry it to the carpet to eat it, he is just playing with it. | |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | It's very common for Roxy to take one piece at a time several feet away, lay down & eat it. Don't remember her spreading pieces around & leaving it. Occasionally she will stay at her bowl & eat quite a bit, but most of the time just one piece at a time away from the bowl. I measure her food every day so I know how much she's eating. She never eats more than 1/2 cup. Often with a few pieces left over.

| Is Dolce is a puppy, then my guess is that he/she is playing with her food. When Suzi was a puppy she never ate from her Bowl. She always took one kibble out of the bowl at a time, and took it to the carpet, and would eat it there. Then, I would start finding her kibble all over the place. She grew out of this behavior . Yorkies are so silly. Sometimes, you just don't know why they do the things they do.
