| please help new bed time behavior Minnie is 9 months and has slept in our bed since she was about 5 months. [potty trained] The routine has been i announce bedtime and she runs to our bed, hops in and is out for the nite Our dd moved back home a few weeks ago and at first Minnie would awaken and bark when dd was up and about after we went to bed. Minnie adjusted and back to routine. With Hot weather and windows open Minnie started barking at noises in the nite, but we could settle her down. The other nite she came to bed as usual, and at about 2 am shot out of bed barking her head off, tried to calm her and get her back to bed,she wouldnt come back to bed, stayed in hall intermittenly barking, and crying. Took her out for PP's and still wouldnt come to bed till about 5 am. Last nite she wouldn't even come to bed, finally at about 12ish i picked her up and brought her to bed she settled till about 2 am and same thing barking her head off and wouldnt come back to bed till about 5ish.She is eating and drinking fine and we take her on walks, any ideas anyone we need sleep and i am sure the neighbors do to. Thanx

| can you put a fan in your room to muffle the sounds outside? My puppy does that too, any weird noises she goes nuts she barks, but I suppose these are all very strange sounds to her! The first night I put on the AC she was crazy , heading towards it and barking and nervous.. I put a fan in my room now so she cant really hear all the owls , birds, traffic, kids outside ...

| Thank you for the suggestion, when it first got hot dh put in the air conditioner, she isnt scared of it, and as matter of fact we had it on the fan past 2 nites. When i hear a car door slam or dog bark i can comfort her but i don't hear or see anything. She has been kind of whiney/bossy the past few nites and for some reason she seems to want to come to bed but feels she needs to protect the house, i was hoping this is just a stage. Or maybe she just thinks she is a cat and wants stay with our cat hahaha that would be fine if she didnt have barking fits

| Our bedroom has always been her safe haven and she is usually attached to our hip unless she has something forbidden. I checked her numerous times and found nothing. If it happens again i will put in a call to the vet because it is odd behavior for her.

She might be hearing something you aren't. Mice in the house is one possibility. | |

| Yeah .... something's getting her guard up Something is likely getting her excited and she can't relax It being the spring ... there are tree frogs and raccoons outside If you can stand it try sleeping with the TV on or try a white noise machine You might not here it but your dog sure does

| Buddy does that also until he get's used to the night noises again now that the window's are open. A few weeks ago I had all the window's open in the house, it was 90 that day and during the night I guess it was like a wind tunnel going threw the house and the bedroom door slammed shut. OMG it scared me to death and at the sametime saw a dark shadow fly threw the air barking. Instant headache at 2:00am. He must have woken up the whole bldg. Once he get's accustomed to the nights noices he just gives a low growl. I'm sure your pup will adjust soon. |
