| Help Me Understand Okay, I am unclear, I give charlie heart worm meds, my vet says that before I purchase another pill. On the other side, I just learned about petmeds. If I just buy another dosage from there, is it something that Charlie will miss out on if he does not go to the vet for this? |

| IMPORTANT... Hi, Once a puppy is started he should stay on it for life. I totally understand about wanting to save $$ because I have 2 six month old pups. anyway. does he go and stayout for long periods??? if it were me and the vet would sell me just 1 pill thats what I would do, you need to have a prescription to mail in I think so you need to see him anyway.... Missing a pill will mean he MUST be tested again for heartworms.. you CANNOT give pills unless you know for sure that he DOES NOT have it, giveing the meds with out testing is very dangerous. so u need ro decide what is the most cost effective for you. GOOD LUCK... let me know if you need more info.. Sharon

| Your question really doesn't make sense. Are you are saying that your vet said you must have Charlie tested before you can buy more heartworm pills? The American Heartworm Society (AHS) recommends that all dogs be checked yearly for heartworms. I'm sure your vet is following their guidelines. If Charlie had heartworms and is given the medication, it could be very dangerous. It would kill the heartworms which could clog the arteries in the heart. As far as ordering from Petmeds.com or any other online pharmacy, they all require a prescription from your vet so you wouldn't be able to. |

| pet meds is fine. But make sure you don't miss a dose. Even thou I have missed quite a few doses with my older boy I got him tested and he was fine. I get flea and heartworm from petmeds. but my little one is one holistic heartworm prevention. I would do holistic flea too but I'm in florida and I swear those darn things would survive a nuclear explosion LOL. |

| I am saying that do I have to take my baby to the vet for another heartworm check in order to get the pill....but my question has been answered on here. The only thing is someone stated this is a yearly check-up, but I just got charlie and he has had his check-up and all of that, so if it is once a year, I wonder why my vet says that it is time, hmmmmmmm, well nevertheless i am going to take him, especially since he has been having diarhea off and on since sunday, plus a little gas. |

| I know when I got my Heartworm pills it was a box that contained 9,almost like gum it has foils over them and you poke one out each month. I was not aware they sold them individually.

| I have not changed charlie food, or treats. I cannot understand why he has the diarhea. He has been with us since december, and he does not go outside more then 30 minutes three to four times a day. I am taking him to vet tomorrow, sometimes I feel like my vet is not caring enough to really explain to me what I should do as a pet owner. I want charlie to be healthy. I can't sleep, cause i am nervous he is sick, he is still playin, it is kind of runny, still yellow/brown. I check the lady advise page that I bought him from, she says to give him some pepto, i did seems to be helping, but i don't want to keep trying home remedies, it is going on four days, since it started sunday night. |

| I order heartworms from PetMeds but they just fax my vet and get the prescription from her. You might try some pure pumpkin for your little one it is great if they are constipated or have diarrea. |
