| A Sad Story...Must read!!! About 2 wks ago my husband was standing on the deck talking to our pool guy when a call came out on his radio for a missing child...He was on duty but was not the officer sent to the call..He is such a wonderful man and always feels compelled to help, especially when children are inolved... He went to the scene immediately and began searching for the 20 month old little boy that went missing.... He had been gone for about 20 minutes by the time the police were called... 10 minutes after my husband got there, a female officer saw the little boy's Yorkie barking by a pool at a 3 million dollar home behind the apartment complex where the boy lived....As she walked to the dog, she saw the boy floating in the pool....She panicked and started screaming for help..My husband went running to her and she was screaming what do I do,, help me....My husband is a CPR instructor and has never had to give CPR his entire 12 yrs as a cop until this moment...He immediately started CPR with no luck..They were unsure of the address of where they were but after about 10 minutes, a fire truck arrived...My husband passed the lifeless little boy off and screamed save him as he fell to his knees sobbing....The boy had no pulse and was rushed to the ER. My husband listened to the medics communicate with the ER doctors standing by and the boy was not breathing....10 minutes after they arrived at the hospital, a call came out for LIFEFLIGHT to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital...They were able to get a pulse!!!!!! He arrived at Vanderbilt barely hanging on..Within 2 days he was breathing on his own and taken off the respirator...He is alive and every test he had was normal except his MRI..It showed that the middle part of his brain is gone..They had to insert a feeding tube and he is being sent to Atlanta to a special children's hospital for several months of therapy...The poor Yorkie was left behind and eventually picked up by the apartment manager as he had gone back to his apartment and was trying to get in...I went to apartment manager and offered to take him in until the boy was well and she contacted the parents of the little boy who were very grateful as they did not want him to be alone and feel abandoned...So anyways, his name is Zach and he is staying with us for a while...The strange part, is that the parents said that Zach did not like Tyler so they were surprised that he didn't just leave Tyler to die...Zach hates my 2 yr old as he has bitten her 3 times and he hates my dogs, but he follows my other two children everywhere and has quickly picked up that I am the boss so I don't have any problems out of him....The mother came by yesterday and visited with him and Zach jumped in her arms and just licked all over her face...It was sweet but sad...When she left, he ran out to her car and jumped in and would not get out....I had to hold him tight while he cried as she drove off...A few minuted later, I threw his ball for him and he was fine.....I am so proud of my husband and so glad that I get to give Zach a comfortable family enviornment to stay in while he waits for his real family to come home...Please keep little Tyler in your thoughts and prayers so that he may have a speedy full recovery.....Sorry this was so long..... |

| Oh, what a sad story! Lots of prayers for that little boy and his family. My husband is an EMT and the call that affected him most was a SIDS case that he went to. At that time, our youngest son was just a few months older than the baby who died. He didn't run ambulance calls for a while after that. How very nice of you to take Zach in and give him a home while his family cares for their boy. |

| Wow that is so sad! My heart and prayers go out to the little boy and his family! I hope he gets well soon! I applaud you for taking in this dog - If it wasn't for the dog barking this child would have probably not been spotted in time. Its sad how the dog really doesnt get anything for saving the boys life. But your taking care of him now and I think that is just great of you to do that for them. I truley think that, that little Yorkie is a hero for barking to to get everybody's attention, if he had not done that I have no clue what would have happened, That little Yorkie is a little hero with lots of fur

| Oh how wonderful to hear a happy ending to this story !!! My son is our local fire chief and my husband a first responder and we have had so many sad stories here in the few last years with these little ones. One a car accident where they came up on two tiny babies who had died instantly and the last one our son was called to a cousins home, their 4 year old had been kicked in the head by a horse. After much time spent trying to save her she saddly passed. It really is so hard on our loved ones to see this happen and it is so nice to be able to have happy endings instead of sad ones. God bless your husband and this little yorkie who helped save this child. CharleneMama to Laddy |

| I can't even imagine how traumatic that must of been! Jeez I get chills, I have a almost 3 year old and I think I would literally die if something happen to her like that. What a smart little yorkie and what a good ending, I hope he has a fast recovery and doesn't have too much damage. I will have him in my prayers. And God bless you for taking in that yorkie for that family. |

| wow, I hope that little Tyler will be able to recover most of his capacities. That is so wonderful that your husband responded to the call. Zach will be forever in your debt when he returns home to his family and I am sure that he will always remember how well you took care of him.
