| It depends on why your Yorkie is pet quality. If they have a silky coat you can grow it long. Most of us who aren't showing aren't going to wrap it to protect it but it can still be pretty and long. It takes work keeping it brushed but with a silky coat it isn't too hard to be pretty but not quite show. |

| I'm going to try to grow Missy's out to be like her Moms. She is "pet-quality". Here's some pics of her.

YT Addict | Most yorkies and grow their body hair long, but it is the face her that is harder to grow like the show ones you see. I do know the ones they call "red leg yorkies" do not grow the long hair. It is just up to the bloodline. If you have a little yorkie please post a picture of her. You may be able to get better help. |

| I agree with other poster's it really depends on the type of hair they have, Copper is a softy and it is so much work just to keep his leggs and skirt long that I would not even try doing it all Maddie on the other hand has a silky coat and her's is about an inch or maybe less now from hitting the ground she is pet quality. Her furdaddy has his AKC Ch. but her mommy doesn't, they grew Mommy's coat to the floor with little effort just keeping it clean and knot free. It really just depends, but definately can be done. Pet quality doesn't necessarily mean poor quality

Donating YT 30K Club Member | All 3 of mine are pet quality and are in full coat. I have to trim their coats whenever it hits the floor. It is a lot of work, but I love the long hair.

| The answer is yes! A Yorkie does not have to be show quality to grow long coat. Some don't grow long, some grow really fast, some slow, and some are thick, some are thin.
