| Chewing on mommy constantly??! I was just wondering if any other babies are the same as mine? Everytime I try to pet him down or cuddle him he just tries to bite and chew on me!! I love to cuddle him but the only time to cuddle him is when I am giving a treat or he is tired....then he will just crawl up in my arms ever soooo sweetly and fall asleep!!! He is only 13 weeks old but is that young enough to have attitude??! He chew on me every chance he gets!! He has every kind of toy imaginable ...but loves me best for chewing!! I love when he is drowsy......lol Lucky's mom |

| Problem is that you;re creating a problem thats going to rear its head as he gets older We all love when a little puppy nibbles on our finger .... not so much when hes 6 months old Best leave the teething to things that are meant for that purpose

| I agree- this will only become a bigger problem. You need to stop the behviour. When he bites you you need to make a yelp sound and get up and leave. His litter mates would have done this and he would find out quite fast that biting is not the way to get attnetion. Some people say to replace your finger with a toy but i think you are just rewarding his biting you. you can also get Bitter Apple and spray it on your fingers and toes- it will probably be the last time he bites you! but just make sure to wash your hands after |

| Eating Mommy..... Hi There.... That's the problem......I don't think it's cute at all.....I was wanting to know if it's a stage they go through? How do I to cut him out from doing it!! I had a Lhasa Apso years ago and at first, yeah we all thought it was really cute! But as he got older it wasn't funny when he couldn't be trusted around anyone, even family! I do not want the same for Lucky.....I wanted to know how to discourage him from this habit..... Thank You Anyway........Lucky's mom |

Also some people, when their puppies bite, will flip them over or put pressure on their shoulders (as their mom would do to show she is in charge). I will do this to Layla when she barks and wont' listen- she gets the hint quite quickly that what she is doing is not ok. But i think the yelping and ignoring will do the trick because he is so young. | |

| Well.....I am way behind then......lmao..When I try to put my finger up and say a firm NO!!! He will even jump at my finger to bite! I have to be firmer with him I guess!! Raising human children was NEVER this demanding!!!Hahahahaaaaa! I think I will try the bittter apple spray though....I have sprayed Vinegar and water solution on my socks and that works for a little while.....only problem is nothing makes me more hungry than the smell of vinegar!! lolol Thanks for all the ideas guys!! |

| i actually disagree with not letting him bite you. when i went to puppy class with milu. they actually told us that it is really important for you to let your puppy nibble on you. the trick is they have to do it VERY gently. what you want to do is help them develop 'soft mouth'. they NEED to nibble on you to know their own strength. that why, when they are older and can really hurt you it won't be a problem because they would have learned the proper pressure to apply when they bite you. the trainer told us that the reason its really important for them to develop soft mouth is so that when accidents happen, like if you trip over them, they won't bite you too hard (not knowing their own strength) and sent you to the hospital. this is how you train them: let your dog nibble on you, that's how they play! and you YELP if they bite too hard, which means yelp OFTEN! unless your baby is already biting you very softly. and when they are chewing on your pants, since you can't feel it, just feel free to YELP. LOL. if they continue to bite too hard. give them time out by not playing with them for 1-2 minutes. and then go back to playing with your puppy, and if he still does it hard, leave them room and give him longer time out. milu is more than one year old now, and i still let her chase my hand and bite at it, because it's fun for both of us since it doesn't hurt. when we were going to puppy class, there was a HUGE poodle puppy that would wrap her own LIPS around her teeth when she bites at your hand to make sure she wasn't biting anyone too hard. IT WAS ADORABLE!!!!! p.s. we were also taught to hand feed them often, so they learn to be very careful with people's fingers. it's worked really well for us, now i completely trust milu, and i let her bite at my nose or paw my face when we play good luck and don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions!

| Yes ... puppies are going to nibble but if they are constantly chewing that behavior is something to be stopped

| haha. thats funny. I had the same exact problem with Boots. He, too, has all the chewing toys you can imagine yet he'd always go after me... what I noticed is that he is bothered by "good" scents... as I was applying lotion one day he began barking at my legs.ha. so one day that he began biting/chewing on me... I applied lotion (Jergens cherry-almond original scent) AND HE STOPPED. he tried to bite/chew on my feet, applied some lotion, and HE STOPPED!! |

| Mimi still has this habit on her too lol. She had such a bad teething stage omg all my wires were cut because of her and was such a mess. Now I have wire guards on them. She use to chew on my fingers too but she never did it hard to hurt me. She sometimes still does it on her playful mood. I joke around with her and say ouch!!!!!! she starts licking it thinking she hurt me lol its so cute
