well....... a "rule" if you can call it that is to double the twelve week weight...... toby was 3 lbs at 12 weeks so youre puppy is not "overweight" persay it is just going to be a larger yorkie..... somewhere arounf 7 lbs i should think.....what did teh breeder say on teh weight when you bought your yorkie? did they make you pay the heafty price for a tiny one?

i limit how much toby eats because he loves to eat as well... and he will eat himself sick as a matter of fact.... i feed him about a cup a day total, and this is a little too much (not a lot more,.... he should probably just be eating less maybe 2/3 cup a day) but..... everyone has different feeding styles.... as far as your puppies weight goes......there is no way of knowing teh past genetics beyond the parents... the parents might have come from 7 lb dogs... so the chance of larger pups is still present in teh genetic makeup... im sure youre not worried about it, about his size i mean........ but, if youre baby eats like mine you might want to consider only giving him so much food at certain timse during the day...

i personally like the floppy ears............ but...... they go up and down when they are teething, you could always tape them if you want them up...... from a "normal" standpoint i would think that floppy ears would be more common is all yorkies were "unaltered"... up ears are basically for appearance and 'standard of the breed'.......but it is your choice, there are sites that teach you how to tape the ears up

My doggie had floppy ears when I got him. He was then already 3 and 1/2 months old. I was kind of afraid that when he is an adult, he will still run around flopping his ears. Although, like Orinskye mentioned, they are cute that way too. So I shaved his ears for the time being (the weight of hair can pull them down believe it or not) and taped them. First, I only taped them two, but they were still strengthless, so I had to make a bridge in between with a tape. I did that for a few days, alternating days so his skin can breathe. And they stood after that, like a miracle. As for feeding, Orinskye is right. You don't want to leave all the food supply he can have out. I did that for the first several days when I got him (didn't know better). He would eat until he gets sick. He ate so much that his belly was too full to do any playing or other things and he got fat fast. So now I only give him limited supply, twice daily. He is about 3 to 4 pounds, so I give him about 2/3 cup a day.

Hi Jess, I am so bad! I keep food available for dogs under age 1 yr at all times. I just never limit their food. I feel their bodies know what nutrients they need and I think puppies need extra fat, just like any baby. I do limit special food I give them, such as baked ham, beef, eggs, or certain canned foods because they like this stuff so much they would become obese! My experience is with my dogs they stop when they are full. I havent had a problem with vomitting. Its really hard to determine your dogs exact weight. If the formula is accurate somewhere between 6 -7 lbs. But I had a dog peak out at 4 lbs and has gained very little since 5 months. Is your dog compact built? or lanky? Its funny how some dogs look so much bigger then another based on their built. Was the breeder accurate on parents weight? I have had several experiences where I was told one weight but to find out the dog was a full pound or more heavier then said. Not saying the person was trying to be dishonest because I didnt ask what scale they used and mine is very accurate. I didnt have very good luck taping one of my dogs ears, but I gave up because she hated it, but I hear it can be very successful especially if started early. Did both parents ears stand? I now love my girls floppy flirty ears! Good luck on your little yorkie puppy dog! Post a pic if you have one!
