| Help....Invisible fences. good or bad? Has anyone ever used one of these on a Yorkie? my question is my lil' MIMI is only 3.5 pounds. (although she acts like she is 50) I do not let her go out in the back yard unattended by all means. She has a harness and I have built a lead line. I feel bad for her because she wants to run and play with her older brother Ozzy. (of course he avoids her at all costs when he has his ball or frisbee) Any how....does anyone know where I can find one, that is not really expensive yet effective? And is this a shock device? I don't want to harm her. Help

| Invisible fencing does shock them after warning beep. I'd find another way...

| Have you thought of buying several xpens and putting them together to have a play yard?

| She climbs out of any type of pen. She even climbs over baby gates. I guess her lead is good for now. Thank you for all of the information...

Do you think she could hop out of that? That's the one I purchased for Jackson because he's bigger at 13 pounds and he's never jumped it.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I would not use a invisible fence. What about one of those Tie out lead's There really long & they don't tangle. Of course you would use it with a harness. Like this.. https://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store...-flypage-26114 |

| my dad uses one for his large dog and it works great. He knew what to do in the first day. But I'm not sure if they are suppose to be used on small dogs, especially one that small. I would get the really tall xpens. My roomate has a climber and she uses a really tall one that she can't get out of. ( and she usually gets out of everything)

| I have a metal one like this. She climbs right out of it. She is crazy...I tried to keep her confined after she kept getting out of the metal one. so I bought a nice (higher end) baby gate. with small, not large holes. She climbed out of that one too. I think i need a 4 foot fence or something...

| Does your dog respond really well to your voice? My parents once bought this thing that worked like an invisible fence, but instead of shocking the dog when it went passed a certain point - it would play a loud recording of your voice saying whatever you wanted it to say. So you could have it say something like "Mimi! Get back here!" or something like that. It would only work if she responds well to your voice though. Also it of course wouldn't replace you being out there with her or anything.

| The problem I see, with either tieing out you yorkie or using any kind of invisible fence, is that your still at the mercy of any loose dogs or wild animals. And, there's nothing to keep anybody from walking into your yard and carrying your baby away. |

| The problem with the invisable fence is that if they get out, and they might they get a big ole shock so they most likely will NOT return as they will get shocked again, I would not advise this for a little yorkie at all!! |

They make covered xpens for the houdinis. I think that might be better than a lead that could get tangled up.

| My Mia is always supervised. She is never left alone in the yard. I am not willing to take that chance. The whole reason for this is I have children, as cautious as they try to be sometimes she creeps out the door. I have chased her down the street before. She hasn't done it lately. but I am really paranoid about cars. We live in a rural area on some acreage. But still our house is next to a public road. So the only outside time she gets is when she is being walked or she is on her lead. These are the only options for me until i can train her right. She is absolutely not allowed to run free outside unless we are at a large park.
