| In California, we had about 5 days of record high temps .... in the 90's. It cooled off, though, and were all very relieved! however, in only anther month or 6weeks we are going to be hit hard again with hot temp. Suzi was shaved down a few months ago> She looks adorable now, Not long haired yet, still short . I live upstairs and go on our Balcony, Suzi often comes out with me, she sometimes gets too hot just outside for a min. I don't take her Outside in these weather conditions. I will take the chance of heat stroke. Dogs body temps are 101' + Yorkie's have a lot of hair , and the heat of the day/? It is not a risk that I am willing to take . Later on in the evening hrs, if temps have dropped, then Yes, we will go for a walk.

| I'm right there with you !!!!! I live in Texas, summers here are downright brutal !!!!!!!! Ah, to live in California again........at least it cools off at night. Here, it can still be 90 degrees at 10:00 at night, it's not even funny. Limit the sweet little ones' 'outside time' during these temperature extremes to make sure they don't get overheated....plenty of fresh water always !!!! (Goes without saying). I firmly support the shorter haircuts in summer as well if it means the little ones will be more comfy. |

| Today Max and I did a 5k. It was probably mid-upper 70s during it. He did really well! I even made him his own lil paper (that was paperclipped onto his shirt) with a race number and everything (K9-001). EVERYBODY wanted his picture, which of course, he loved every minute of it! We had a festival all day and he stayed in our booth with me (in the shade). It got up to just about 90. It was HOT. But he really seemed fine and had a constant supply of water. He had so much fun meeting new people and getting all kinds of attention! Who doesn't love a pup with a spiderman tshirt and a bow in his hair? Several people thought he was a GIRL b/c of the bow in his hair... umm... HELLO PEOPLE.... SPIDERMAN TSHIRT, BLUE BOW. How much more masculine can you get?

| My daughter suggests freezing bottles of water that the dogs can lie next to when they have to be outside for a while, like if you had a booth at a festival (in July) or were camping, day at the lake etc. Seemed like a good idea. Little bodies get cold or hot much faster than our big bodies. You have to watch after your human babies for the same thing.

| we live in AZ and the summers here are terrible, I know people say its a dry heat but really it is like sticking your head into an oven that is 115, that is a dry heat too but I wouldn't like that either. The first year I moved here a little girl fell on the payment and got 2nd degree burns on her palms and knees. I can't imagine what this heat feels like on puppy's paws. Once the summer really hits, which is around now, it is hot until Nov. I LOVE the winters here though!!! I just did a summer cut on Samson but haven't yet on Harley, he is only 4 months old and I couldn't bare to cut his puppy hair yet.

| This weather is hard on everyone. Zeus sleeps quite a bit now that it is getting hot. I worry about his paws on the pavement. I don't plan on walking him in the heat but feel terrible about him stepping outside to potty. Has anyone tried booties to protect their paws from the hot pavement? |

| I never really thought about the heat - we live along the Caribbean and it has been hot (and we've been using the A/C) since February. We're in our hottest month of the year right now (May) and I'm thinking of cutting his hair. How do you guys do it? Just use a hair clippers? The kids are going to FREAK if I cut his hair - I usually just dip him in hte sea if he's out and about a lot and he lies about on our cool tile a lot. I think he has pretty much acclimated - this is the only climate he's known and now 90-100 really isn't a big deal. |
