| Female/Female or Female/Male? I have an adorable little female, Sophie, that is about 2 1/2 years old. I think it is time to get her a Yorkie buddy. I was really set on getting her a another female but I wondering if a male would be good too. Does anyone have a set of yorkies that could recommend if she should have a male buddy or female buddy? Sophie is not 100% potty trained so I'm a little worried about a male marking. Let me know what you think. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Usually if there are going to be issues...it is between two females than males or the combination of male/female. I own 1 female and 3 males... As far as marking...my FEMALE has always marked. That isn't limited to males and none of my dogs mark inside my house.

| Male/female would definitely be your best bet! I've lived with female/female pairs twice before, and they would usually just tolerate each other. One day they'd be best friends, the next they would hate each other. They never fully 100% got along. That's not ALWAYS the case but I think your safest bet is male/female. It's usually almost guaranteed they will get along even if takes a little bit of warming up. Again, every case is different. But, Jackson is my first male and I love his attitude, personality and temperament better than any of the female dogs I've had in the past (non-yorkie!) Male/male combos always seem to get along better too. And I don't know one male dog personally who marks inside the house!

| I have a boy and a girl. I really like that combination. They are so different that they compliment each other. Both of mine are affectionate but in different ways. Mia is very independant - Max wants to be with us all the time. Max is more playful - Mia is the protector. Neither of them mark in the house - but both like to try to pee on everything when they are on a walk. You can dress both of them - I do. If I were to ever get a third one - it would be a boy. I think we can only handle one girl in our pack. I know most people want girls - and I LOVE Mia - but I really like having both a girl and a boy!

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | If, no ,when I get another furbaby it will be a female for Tia. I just prefer girls but they are so easy going babies Im not sure it matters.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have 3 females and the 2 from the same breeder pick on the other one. The two from the same breeder will play fight with each other but they will gang up on poor Cali. Just recentlt since losing my female pom they have been really picking on Cali to the point I have had to sperate them for a break. But then an hour later they will be snuggling together and kissing each other. So I don't know if it's because of the uneven number now that the bullying has gotten worse. I too was afraid to get a male because of the marking, but it seems like you may not have the fighting issues with one of each.

| I had a female and a male. I think it was a good mixture because one dog will dominated. It was funny at home Sweet Pea ran the show but outside the home Sebastian is the protector.
